Best available option

Would actually really like this move.

Nov 20, 2012, 10:17 AM

Charlie Strong has changed the attitude within that program. Those boys are contenders now.

I like it because UL will spend money on Football

Nov 20, 2012, 10:18 AM

UConn, Cinny, not so much.

Unfortunately I'll think he'll be in Fayetteville, Auburn,

or Lexington this time next year.

Isn't Louisville a basketball school?***

I have been to Louisville on several business trips

Nov 20, 2012, 10:33 AM

It is a pretty awesome town. Especially 5th Street, a street that is very simular to downtown Greenville, or Broadway in Nashville.

ACC could be deciding on Louisville- plus football wise

Nov 20, 2012, 10:21 AM

you tap into a state where there is no SEC football presence. Yeah I know Ky and as I said and meant "no SEC football presence."

Re: Football Update: ACC could be deciding on Louisville

Nov 20, 2012, 10:26 AM

I'd rather try to get Kentucky. Obviously their fanbase is mostly concerned about bball, but given their location, enrollment, and athletics budget aside from tv money, they have way more room for growth as a football program than Louisville. Not trying to open up the discussion about leverage vs SEC in poaching their conference, because obviously the general perception is that it could never happen, but I think the school would instantly improve their basketball brand, which lets be honest this is the only southern state, charter institution that that would mean something to, and down the road have an opportunity to take their football program to the next level.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I agree. ACC should make a move for Kentucky and Vandy.

Nov 20, 2012, 10:28 AM

Then the SEC can raid the ACC and take Clemson and FSU!!

Nov 20, 2012, 5:58 PM

My thoughts also, but that is the exact reason swoffy wouldn't dare....

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Can we be realistic, people?

Nov 20, 2012, 6:08 PM

We're not getting Kentucky or Vandy. Not happening.

Louisville is BETTER than Maryland. I would love this move.

badge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

when has Kentucky ever had a good football program?

Nov 20, 2012, 10:44 AM [ in reply to Re: Football Update: ACC could be deciding on Louisville ]

adding them would be just like adding UConn. Their football is worse than Syracuse or Pitt, too.

Re: when has Kentucky ever had a good football program?

Nov 20, 2012, 11:03 AM

agreed, but I think their "potential" is still stronger than Louisville because the fanbase is already there. They just have to give them something to get excited about.

You think if Louisville were in the SEC east that they would have ever had a good season? Im just looking at it long term. Bottom line is there arent any good options at this point, we are choosing from the least bad option in terms of who to add IF we stay in the ACC, which sucks, so theres no great answer period. But if I had my choice, Id choose WVU or Penn State (aint gonna happen.) So with the leftovers I'll go with Kentucky over Louisville, UCONN, or directional U.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Screw potential, I want results

Nov 20, 2012, 11:27 AM

Louisville is 11-8 in the UK rivalry since it was renewed in 1994, despite having been independent until 1995, and then in the lowly Conference USA until 2004.

Louisville's football program has been on an upward trajectory for 15 years, while UK's has been stagnant.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

UK forego $Ms & SEC basketball dominance to join ACC? Not!***

Nov 20, 2012, 10:57 AM [ in reply to Re: Football Update: ACC could be deciding on Louisville ]

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Makes sense but UK is riding the football gravy train

Nov 20, 2012, 10:59 AM [ in reply to Re: Football Update: ACC could be deciding on Louisville ]

to big bucks that they can pour into their basketball program that has about 1 or 2 teams they have to worry about in their conference slate.

Nov 20, 2012, 5:56 PM [ in reply to Re: Football Update: ACC could be deciding on Louisville ]

YESSSS, go after Kentucky and that pisses off sec and they come after us. Just wishful thinking on my part;)

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

OK then; the ACC should be renamed

Nov 20, 2012, 10:35 AM

Call it the Big Coast Conference or the Atlantic East Conference.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

PLEASE let this be the case***

Nov 20, 2012, 10:42 AM

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

ul better than uconn. better ask FSU whatever keeps them happy.

Nov 20, 2012, 10:59 AM

Otherwise they and us will be doing road games in aimes iowa and Lubbock Texas. Any move other than sec is not good imo.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So we reject WVU due to academics, but take

Nov 20, 2012, 11:06 AM

Louisville? Wow, I woiuld have much rather had West Virginia for many reasons. Too bad West Virginia didn't wait just a little longer.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

WVU will eventually be a memeber of ACC when all is said...

Nov 20, 2012, 11:21 AM

and done and conferences move to 16 teams.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

jope you're right, but they're locked into a grant of rights

Nov 20, 2012, 12:07 PM

for 13 years. We need them now.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Once Louisville loses Charlie Strong...

Nov 20, 2012, 11:26 AM

they will be a bad football team again. But I guess I still like the move better than Uconn

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Louisville hires good coaches and isn't afraid to spend $

Nov 20, 2012, 11:32 AM

Howard Schenellenberger, John L. Smith (before he went bankrupt), Bobby Petrino (heck of a coach just a bad person), and now Charlie Strong.

They'll replace Strong with a solid coach when he leaves, or pony up some cash from their new ACC deal (still much better than the Big East's)to keep him.

JUST PAY US $50 MILLION DOLLARS!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

you all live in fantasy land! Lville is a garbage program

Nov 20, 2012, 10:14 PM

They bring almost nothing to the table in football.

Re: Football Update: ACC could be deciding on Louisville

Nov 21, 2012, 7:41 AM

The future of the ACC could be riding on Swofford's decision:
A BASKETBALL CONFERENCE: UCONN
A FOOTBALL CONFERENCE: LOUISVILLE
BOTH:add LOUISVILLE and UCONN plus SOUTH FLORIDA.
