Eleven Warriors - Trash Talk

I find most of the posts on the Eleven Warriors site related to our game interesting. I am not sure if most Ohio State fans don't follow anything but Ohio State, or if it is just a poorly run site. I'll give a couple examples....

1.) Hatred of Dabo - I'm still not sure why Ohio State fans are upset about him ranking them 11th. He clearly stated it had nothing to do with their team, and just the amount of games. We recruit all of the same players. We clearly know how talented they are. Ryan Day cried like a baby after losing last year, and we all know the history of Urban Meyer. In what world are either of their last two coaches a "better person" than Dabo. They also talk about him changing his stance since September. Pretty easy answer to that.... he didnt know the Big 10 was only going to play 6 games in September.

2.) SEC refs - Even as a Clemson fan, I thought there were a few suspect calls in the game last year. However, do Ohio State fans believe Clemson is in the SEC? Why would SEC refs root for Clemson. I would think that the SEC would prefer to see Ohio State than a Clemson team that has been able to knock off Alabama a few times.

I honestly think it will be a very good game. Prior to season, I thought Clemson, Alabama, and Ohio State were the 3 best teams in CFB, and not much has changed. Both Ohio State and Clemson have missed many starters in multiple games this year, but have looked good when healthy.

I like getting views from the opposing fan base, but they lose me pretty quickly by hating on Dabo. If they want to have a conversation, at least they should start with a valid argument. Something related to our offensive line struggles might make more sense.

Sadly, if you go to their board expecting a battle of wits, you will find that they are unarmed! :)

Dabo is their BoogieMan and they are skeert of what they can't control. He is the epitome of there worst nightmare. He does that to opposing fanbases I've noticed. The greater they see themselves the worse becomes the nightmare.

1) I think it's pretty difficult to see past his ranking for exactly what it is...Ohio State is ranked 11th. Dabo believes Ohio State is the 11th best team in the nation. Behind Coastal. Behind Cinci. In a pandemic when Ohio State's program had very little control of the number of games they could play. The 10-11 game season argument has merit but I'm going to call it like I see it, it's horse hockey. Go read Alabama, ND, heck, even Michigan's boards and you'll broadly see people saying Dabo has put his foot in his mouth on this one. I'll say this, that underdog mentality doesn't seem to be his mindset anymore. He wants his players to believe they're on the top of the mountain. It's either brilliant or dumb. I'm not sure.

2) I think there's three arguments here: a) the SEC believed Ohio State was the more formidable opponent to LSU b) the replay official simply hates Ohio State c) it was an authentic call. I personally don't care about the call. Ohio State had so many missed opportunities and self-inflcted wounds in that game. I thought that particular call could go either way on the field. I'll never believe it was indisputable enough to overturn. But, we lost that game because of Clemson's big play ability and missed opportunities.

Dabo's story is truly a great one. Underdog, American dream rising to be the best. But very few outside Clemson see him as the authentic, fantastic football coach he is. There are some skeletons in the closet I'm not going diving into.

Thanks for allowing me to share. Hope we see a game with no injuries, great officiating, and a winner that's not too bruised to challenge and win against Bama.

You know that Dabo has skeletons in the closet?

If Newspring was funneling money to our players/families there would be evidence of it. Teams like OSU (butt hurt) would be itching to turn us in to the NCAA.

You may be the smartest human on the planet since you went to Wofford, but you lack the most fundamental aspect of reading, at best. Comprehension.

Dabo said it before the season started, during and after. It doesn’t matter the team, if you don’t play the same as the ACC and the SEC, you don’t deserve to be in.

Stop pretending to be a victimized fan base

1. Dabo ranked Ohio State 11th. Who cares? Ohio State is in the playoffs...a coaches poll is meaningless. As for his foot in his mouth....if you say so. His opinion....and he does not care what others think about it.

2. Complaining about the refs a year later is what puts me over the edge when it comes to Ohio State fans including family members. I think we all can agree that bad calls are part of the game.....and a team must rise above. As for the SEC refs thinking Ohio State a more formidable opponent...that is just your bias talking.

3. Your skeletons you mention are the fiction of Coots. Be better....

As far as SEC refs being biased against OSU in that playoff game...

Remember this, at that point in time, Trevor was 29-0 as a starter including being the reigning National champions. He had previously beaten the “greatest team ever” just 12 months before. Why exactly would they prefer OSU over that? Please. Results?

These are results:

4 minutes left on his own 6 yard line trailing, Trevor puts together a 4 play touchdown drive. How’s that for results?

Then, with 1:49 left Fields gets the ball, trailing. He promptly drives down for the game losing interception.

Those are results my buckeye friend.

During the wee hours of Saturday night one of two things will be true:

Clemson is 5-0 vs OSU with excellent results.

OSU is 1-4 vs Clemson bragging about results.

Re: So...

Fair point. My counter point to that would be Chase Young and the Ohio State corners. All those 50/50 balls Jamar Chase caught in the NC were the difference in the game. Clemson struggled to get pressure without blitzing last year. I'd argue Ohio State was a more difficult matchup for LSU last year.

Doesn't make any difference now because again, I'm not boo hooing on that call. We had plenty of opportunities and simply didn't execute.

link

Maybe so....

Posted: Dec 30, 2020, 10:23 AM

But since Ohio State did not beat Clemson, I guess we will never know. I don't pretend that Ohio State is not a good team....but they will get their chance with Clemson again this weekend.

I am glad we are playing Ohio State again. 5-0 will be great.

Dabo beat Urban (twice) and poor Urbie developed a brain thingie and had to go bye bye

Dabo beat Cryin Ryan and will again in 2 days.

I'll respond to this as a Buckeye fan.

1) The hatred for Dabo is simple, it's classic "we can't or haven't beaten them". In 2016 he was very vocal about "knowing" Ohio State had no chance in that game. The truth is, we shouldn't have been in playoff. Though JT Barrett was a winner, he was incredibly deficient in aspects of his game, and couldn't be relied on to throw the ball consistently. I actually won money on this game as Ohio State was a favorite and I bet on Clemson to win.
The 11th place ranking, although a bit of a weasel move, I respect it. Dabo was pretty clear in the beginning of the year about his feelings towards teams who didn't play a full season, and in this instance reversed course some. Here's the problem, as a Buckeye fan, the B1G completely screwed the pooch on their ability to make decisions, and on how they chose to deal with Covid. So, scrutiny was expected, at least by me. As much as I laughed at him ranking us 11th, I respected his willingness to stick to end of the season guns. Problem is, those "guns" don't align with this preseason "guns".

2) The issue with SEC ref's has zero to do with Clemson, it's how they call games. I can't speak to the ACC, but the B1G probably has the worst and most inconsitent officials in the country. In fact, I'd argue they're not as good as MAC refs. In the Clemson game last year while I'd agree the targeting call was 100% legit, the hands to the face call on the same play that got missed was insane. The scoop and score was also a poor call I thought, but if you go back and look in the SEC, they called it how they'd been calling it all year.

It is what it is man. You can't throw a pick late, settle for field goals, and let Trev run for 3000 yds and expect to beat Clemson. It's pretty simple.

However, Dabo's no dummy, and he enjoys playing the heel sometimes. You can't hold the 6 games we played against us, 2/3 were cancelled by our opponents and one of them (Michigan) was cancelled due to only 9 positive Covid cases. The rest was due to "contact tracing". So, to "disqualify" a team for something they had no part in, isn't a fair stance either. Ultimately it provides us with a massive disadvantage going into this game regardless of what Dabo has said.

neckalce I have seen.

I go back & forth on the 11th thing . . . . based on this:

If the tables were turned & we had y'alls record against the teams you played, and looked the way you guys have looked in some of those, there is NO WAY we get into the playoffs. As 40 year die hard fan & alum, there is NO WAY we get in.

So . . . . Day being able to vote us 11th is a moot point. BUT . . . . if he did - TNet will be in full-blown meltdown & Dabo would work it like only Dabo can.

But make no mistake - all of us on here would be gasketing over the slight.

And for as long as I have understood the game of college football (some here might argue that hasn't occurred yet), I have always said that good teams overcome poor officiating. Always. Because it is as much a part of the game as 4 downs and keeping score.

(I DO NOT feel this way about poor officiating in college basketball because those zebras can take over a game, without question. See the Tyler Handsoffmebro game in craphole hill that should have been our first win ever up there)

I agree with you. Here's the thing though, we still beat two top 15 teams. Now, it's a fair argument on whether or not they're "really" that good, but their rankings were their rankings when we played. Look, you know as well as I do that both the B1G and the ACC aren't exactly powerhouse conferences. I'm in no way lawding the SEC either because I think their "dominance" get's overplayed and I get tired of it just like everyone else. However, I also don't think the ACC is bad football, and with the addition of Mack at UNC, and Diaz at Miami I think they've made huge strides. However, you're right on both accounts.

Passionate fanbases act crazy, it's just what it is, I just happen to have spent a number of years down south, and rooted my ### off for Clemson inside of Jordan Hare stadium in 2010 because honestly I hate Auburn worse than I hate Michigan. I like Dabo, I love what he stands for, however, I think he knows exactly what he's doing in playing that heel role, but College Football needs it. We need the "We're going whoop their f**kin a$$ rants", we need the 11th place rankings, and we need the "He always seems to know what we're doing" quotes. To me, that's just sports, it's competition, and it's healthy.

I appreciate Clemson, I appreciate the fan base, but I also fully understand Buckeye Nation, or as you called it "Nut Necklace". I'm a Buckeye through and through, but I enjoy the #### out of other teams passionate fanbases.

Truth is the big ten decided to pull their big boy britches up after they seen Clemson,Alabama and Notre Dame was gonna get in the playoffs, so they decided to put together a short season to get Ohio State in. You honestly can’t say they would have decided to play if nobody in your conference was in contention for the playoffs.

Second of all, how do Ohio state fans say they was gonna steam roll Northwestern but now that the game was closer then what y’all was expecting , “Northwestern is a good football team” laughable at best.

link

Re: Eleven Warriors - Trash Talk

I think any reasonable college football fan knew Clemson was better than ND at full strength. If our #1 and #3 receivers plus starting middle linebacker played against northwestern, do you think the outcome of the B1G championship would have been different?

College football nerds have Clemson winning by 14 and 17 points this Friday. But they're also on record saying they think Northwestern's defense is better than Clemson.

Re: Eleven Warriors - Trash Talk

Posted: Dec 30, 2020, 11:57 AM

The B1G completely busted their decision to cancel. I don't believe it had to do with Ohio State, I think it had to do with Television networks and money. A winter season didn't do anything for anybody, and the chance to infringe on Fox's ability to make money off of the B1G, since they televise playoff games. So, ultimately they didn't really have a choice but to find a way to start. Not to mention, when POTUS calls directly and tells you he'll personally make sure you have testing available, I think it's in your best interest to make a decsion to play.

To your second point, stop with the "Ya'll". I haven't said anything about Northwestern being a "good" football team. I personally thought it would be close. Northwestern was ranked #14 regardless of what you or anyone else thinks of their deservedness of that ranking. NW is a team who plays a really consistent brand of football. They have a very veteran defense, and the addition of Payton Ramsay was a huge "get" on offense. They're not flashy, not speedy, nothing fancy. However, they play really disciplined football, and their defense is very good at keeping everything in front of them.
