I have a back yard full of them ( well, in the lake that’s in the back yard)

I'd say that is a white crappie.

Downsize your tackle if you want a better

They tend to be sluggish this time of year. Paper thin lips. Smaller hooks. 4-6# test line. Spinning reels on flexible rods. They love minnows and brightly colored small jigs . . . Grand kids enjoy catching them!

Dad always called them "specks" . . . Unless he was catching 2-2.5 pounders at Santee . . . Those he called "Slabs"!!! Oh how I miss that man!!!!!!!

Yo Daddy & my Daddy are prolly wading together summers

Aug 18, 2020, 7:36 PM

he culled most under 2 lbs and called the really big ones "bell cows". Only way to catch the slabs was to wade to were they were at. Have saw him flip a moccasin off a limb with his pole if it was in his spot, and he was in the water with it. Don't have a clue how he lived to be 95.

willow bushes with the paddle in your left hand and a cane pole in the right......On a good day when you got to see your cork go under 30 or 40 times, when you went to bed that night and closed your eyes, all you would see was yellow corks going under!!

That's a nice crappie. Yeah, they aren't fighters, but they are fun to catch when you get into a school of them. Quite tasty, too.

Long cane pole and a minnow.

Circle the stumps at Lake Marion near Randolph's. :)

that is a reticulated sturgeon, very rare and worth a lot of money. I hope you kept him.
