They have this thing now that lets you find them with your phone. If you can find your phone.

A "Tile" I think.

which is strapped to my wrist. It has a button that makes the phone chime...that I can actually hear a little bit when I have my hearing aids in. That coupled with my Find-a-phone app on my iPad and more importantly my wife I can usually find my phone. Keys however, they are a problem.

A drunk will run a STOP sign, but a stoner will wait for it to turn green.

Wait. What? I have a car?!?!?

I developed a habit years ago of always carrying a

spare key in my left front pocket...just in case I lock my other key in the car or forget where I put it.

However, when home or at work, there's only one place at either where I put the main key.

True story: a few years ago, my son was visiting and when he was ready to leave, he began searching the entire house for his keys. That after I had told him repeatedly to carry them in a pocket. After about 20 minutes of frantic searching, he opened the fridge for a soda...and there were the keys. Still trying to figure that one out. But the look on his face was worth his efforts!

I put a super ugly long string on my key and I always leave it tied to my front door, on the inside of course. That way I never have to look for it. It took me years to accept the fact that it doesn't have to be so complicated. Now if I could just figure out something for the remote control for the TV.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think I left them next to the rotary phone.

Or maybe it was next to the record player.

Funny story

Dec 16, 2020, 8:18 AM

So, my dad was 88 and still driving. His memory was failing and while he could drive ok (slow but sure) - he would get to a store and not remember why he was there or bring home the wrong items.

So, my mom and I agreed to talk him into giving up the car. I lived a mile away and we could pick up whatever they needed. (They lived in assisted living.).

He never cussed, but when I told him I wanted to take his car, he went verbal on me and let me have it.

So, next time he went to Walmart, my mother called me and I took the spare key and while he was in the store, I took his car. My wife (just happened to run into him while he was in WM). We brought a friend in on the plan who was a sheriff deputy. After not finding the car, we convinced him that the car was stolen.

For weeks, I had to give him updates from the investigation into his stolen car. In time his dementia got worse and then unfortunately he passed.

Your post reminded me of it, because he always carried a car key, just in case he saw the car and he would get it back.

Lol. Sure miss him.
