Why do we need a stimulus again?
Mar 3, 2021, 3:33 PM

Just another $1.9T added to the national debt.
I see no signs the economy needs a stimulus. UE is way down. Stocks are doing well. Interest rates are low. Housing market is booming.
So what are we stimulating other than another giant handout?

Agree, except you basically have to. That much printed money

is a tax on everyone through the devalued dollars. If this were within the budget, turning down the money is one thing, but you are having to bend over for this one, for a huge new tax you didnt agree to. Might as well take the money, because you're getting ripped a new one either way.

I'm not against packaging things into one bill

Sometimes that's more efficient. But there should always be an honest message about what's in the bill. If it's COVID stimulus, plus some other stuff, it should be described as such to the American people.

and spend money and add to the economy.
What's that? People still can't go out because most places are still under restriction?
Oh, then it's so people can buy stuff on Amazon - because Amazon is really struggling.

Debt "clock" and doing the math, it says that only ~ 38 out of every 100 citizens actually are taxpayers. Therein is a HUGE part of the problem. The convoluted tax laws allow the ultra rich and the ultra poor to pay nothing. Some version of a "flat tax" WITH NO LOOPHOLES would go a long way toward solving this problem.
Elizabeth Warren's "Ultrarich" tax won't do it. Other countries have already tried and failed, the lobbyists always manage to get enough "loopholes" put in to allow creative accounting by the billionaires to skate out of paying.

Any way you divide the upper income earners, they pay more % of tax burden than their % share of income.

I read that 70% of the last stimulus hasn’t been spent. The current proposal includes msny pork projects that would not stand a chance on their own. Get rid of the pork!

Do you say that because you think it will help reduce unemployment or because the unemployed need the funds?

That inflation cake is being made. We have massive increases in debt, no reason/rate to invest in cash (and yet here we are), expected inflation - what else do we need...hmm...oh yeah velocity. Velocity will be injected (being a little punny). That being said, inflation is a bit ch to predict.

our economy rather than let it crash and spend 4 years rebuilding it. Yes, we are marching off a cliff, willingly., We are stupid, stupid because the money supply has no impact on resources or labor capacity, yet we will all sit around picking our behinds and deciding which pet to eat first when it all comes crashing down.
