With our DT depth and lack of DE depth

Jul 19, 2016, 1:27 PM

Do you guys think it would be better to start Wilkins at DT or to play him at DE? I personally hope he stays put. He is amazing in the middle and while I think he could be a solid end I think it would take away from his game. I know the coaches know what they are doing so don't give me that crap. Just want some opinions.

Depends on how our DEs hold up against the run

Jul 19, 2016, 1:30 PM

To be honest we really only played 3 DEs last year in Lawson, Dodd and Bryant. Thankfully they stayed healthy for the most part. This year we have Ferrell, Bryant, Yeargin, Register and more than likely Xavier Kelly playing.

Given the numbers and the talent I only expect to see Wilkins at DE if the DEs can't hold the edge, say against FSU for example, and we need someone to anchor that side of the line.

Other wise I expect they'll let the DEs learn by trail by combat so to speak.

Agreed! I believe our dEs have got the size and talent just have to prove it on the field.

We'll be debating this until Auburn

I see it more as a situational thing. He'll be a DT that lines up at end in certain packages.

I cannot wait to see how our DEs do in game one! Should be fun. I think they have the potential to be as good as last year.

IMO I think he should stay where he is at DT. While he was showing signs of being able to play at DE, he is just super talented. Besides our defensive ends will be fine. Now do I think they will be as productive as Shaq and Kevin? No, not yet anyway, but we never know. I mean look at Kevin Dodd. None of us knew he was going to be a beast.

I'm not so sure we have a lack of depth at DE as

a lack of experience or proven depth. I suspect the talent is there.

CBV said we have plenty of talent. We just need to play everybody to become more experienced and therefore better.

I think we'll be fine if no injuries.***

I think DE will be a pleasant surprise.***
