Interesting Observation of Hilinski's Dad on TV
Oct 16, 2019, 10:29 PM

Feel free to let me know if I'm wrong here (hope I am), but I was watching highlights of the recent USC vs. UGA game and was surprised to see the Hilinski's dad yell "F*** You" and throw up a middle finger after his son threw a good pass (see video below). Not to compare, but in my years of watching Clemson, never seen any of our QB parents do that. Actually, never seen any parent do that on TV. I figured they'd know by now the camera will often zoom in on them after a good play by Hilinski. Thought it was a bit unclassy.
Nonetheless, really hope Hilinski recovers from his injury and does well (except against us). Feel bad for what the family has had to go through.

I’m sure they wouldn’t have let it die for the remainder of the game. They’re opportunists that way.

Who was that message intended for? I had been very impressed with their personal story, but this kind of behavior is so unnecessary.

cameras are on them non-stop. It's almost like we have to see their reactions a couple of times every series. It is almost as bad as seeing Hilinski, while hurt on the sideline, snuggle up to the trainer and pump his fist after every play.
My guess is that dad was mad about a UGA player talking smack after a play...or "late" hits...or some perceived, on-field slight against his kid....and then his kid throws a dart.
I get the emotion, but man, you've got to show a little class and restraint. SMH

That and the 3 finger thing. I know it's for his brother, and I can't even begin to imagine the pain of what that family has gone through. However, it really does seem like they're milking the hell out of that each time they know they're on camera.

of any parent who has had to endure the death of a child. Does that give him carte blanche to do whatever? Of course not but what he was to wake up to everyday coupled with a less than hospitable crowd in Athens makes it a lot easier to understand.
