Coots crowing about their LB class

Feb 8, 2013, 12:45 PM

They signed some solid players in:

Bryant: 4* (their best recruit)
Camara: 3* (listed at under 190 pounds)
Moore: 4*
Turner: 3*
Walton: 3*

However, our LB class (even though we didn't really need LB's) is just as solid.

Boulware: 4*
Jones: 4* (he is like a bonus recruit, kinda like a juco)
O'Daniel: 4*
Greenlee: 2*
E.B.: 4* (if the Coots get to cout some of their 260 ilb LB we get to count E.B.

Looks like we will be O.K.

For heaven's sake, don't get them started.

Crump has enough trouble thinning the flock here.

Steward, Anthony, Parker, Goodson, Boulware, O'Daniel, and Jones are all highly talented guys.

Which is why we put more players in the N.F.L.

Defense is team game. Did you see their D last year? It

Feb 8, 2013, 12:57 PM [ in reply to Which is why we put more players in the N.F.L. ]

was better than anything we have put on the field in 20 years. Sorry if you have trouble dealing with the truth.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Player development isn't a team game

Feb 8, 2013, 1:03 PM

Clemson puts out a bunch of talent to the NFL every year on defense.

how did clemson handcuff dabo about his oc and dc? he fired rob spense and vic konning and could have hired anyone he wanted. he chose steele and napier and both proved to be mistakes. he has the two highest paid assistant coaches in college football as coordinators now. i agree we are better off now as a total staff, but dabo just made mistakes with his first hires.

and they return 4 starters. that is 8 they have to replace.

Feb 8, 2013, 9:32 PM [ in reply to Defense is team game. Did you see their D last year? It ]

and they lost their d-line coach. i think you are giving them a tad too much credit. i'll give you that since they are still using ellis johnson's players, they might be good, but i just don't see dominant.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I can't argue that.

Feb 8, 2013, 12:57 PM [ in reply to They have been much better at developing defensive talent ]

I also can't argue that they've landed some good player to start with.

I'd like to point out that our program when through a long and laborious process in changing coaching staffs.

First we handcuff Dabo and strap him with a DC and an OC that doesn't fit into what he wants to do with his team. Then we 'allow,' slow and methodical changes.

I think that's finally over. We'll see.

They don't have much else to hang their hat on

Feb 8, 2013, 1:15 PM

Despite all of their crap about being an elite in the SEC they still can't out recruit us. They have brought in some pretty good guys, congrats to them but we have more talent and depth then they do, easily. As shown with the fact that both of our highly talented LBs will most likely RS while they need their to produce immediately. They lose almost their entire D this year and that's been their saving grace the last few years.

Great post. No doubt there is a talent difference! Almost their entire D would be true if Clowney was a part of the group leaving.
