Clock on our last possession in regulation. Can't cry

Nov 8, 2020, 6:21 AM

bad calls and that bad series was on the coaches. However, on 3rd down after the penalty the rules official said the clock should have started back when the ball was spotted, yet it never did, it stayed at 2:00. We cost ourselves the game but we got jobbed on the clock at the end.

That is correct. We jobbed by the refs multiple times in South Bend. Would you have expected to get an even chance there' I would not?

Cmon now - they actually picked up a PI flag on the next to last possession which was clearly PI. It was called and they actually picked up the flag, horrible call. Then ND drops the 4th down pass which would have been a first. We get the ball back, burn 23 seconds off the clock with very questionable play calling and put the D right back out there.

We got breaks too, just didnt make them pay.

If you watched the game and that play, you’d see #11 push Sheridan Jones once during the route and then shove him off right before turning to try and catch. What likely happened is the refs got together and one said it was offensive PI and another thought defensive and they just decided to ignore it. In real time, the offensive PI would have been much more obvious then defensive.

On top of that, no review to see whether Trevor’s knee went down in bounds. Don’t know if either play mattered, but they would have left Notre Dame without the comfort of two timeouts on their last drive.

Go Tigers!
