it was very savvy to make this into an out door venue, to save on costs. Now they can spend that 63 million on nicer interior finishes.

Mar 18, 2015, 4:48 PM [ in reply to notice they dont show the outside ]

Are they just going to gut the inside, or is the top going to be ripped off as well. It really needs to be. If the structural beams need to be kept, then at least redo the facade.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

this has turned into a huge boondoggle. Can't believe

Mar 18, 2015, 7:09 PM [ in reply to notice they dont show the outside ]

we always fall for the early rumblings of a new arena, or big changes and always get a second rate, scaled down version of a $63 million paint job and practice courts.

I am in no way a large lady but it would be nice to have roomy-er seating, if suggestions from the public are allowed ;) however, I'm about 5'10" so my knees bump the seats in front of me.

....for just renovations? That sounds like enough $$ completely tear down LJC and build a new one from scratch. From the drawings alone, I can't really tell what's being renovated?? Pretty much looks like the same ole LJC to me.

come on striperfan. it aint about the new practice facilities and player amenities. it aint about the new larger seats for us full figured guys. it aint about the almighty social networking to make sure we can text during games. it aint about the new club level. it is all about littlejohn still being square on the outside. please get with the program. we are spending 64 million to make sure the outside is identical to it is now.

Re: 63.5 Million clams??

Mar 18, 2015, 8:08 PM [ in reply to 63.5 Million clams?? ]

You haven't priced constructing a new coliseum and practice facilities lately. It's about half what others are paying.

We also have to take into consideration that we don't have a good place for a new one.

DePaul University officials are still targeting a winter groundbreaking for a planned $173 million McCormick Place arena and new home for Blue Demons basketball. It seats 10,000.

Basketball aside, I would be pi$$ed if graduation in Gville.

Mar 18, 2015, 6:07 PM

Why not have it in Tillman? My son's graduation ceremony was there in December, 2001.
We really enjoyed it there as opposed to my daughter's and mine in LJ.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Same ugly exposed cross rafters. Can't believe we are

Mar 18, 2015, 7:06 PM

spending $million to remodel a bad design that is not even going to look significantly different on the inside or outside when done. Oh well, basketball will remain second rate for another 50 years.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Duke does pretty well in "old" Cameron Indoor Stadiun.

Mar 18, 2015, 8:20 PM

Sure LJ is not the greatest, but there are a lot of teams in the dance ever year
playing in much worse.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Then we can do that without spending $63 million.***

last rebuild did a lot... this doesnt seem to change much

Mar 21, 2015, 2:55 PM

Last renovation was a huge upgrade and wasn't really that long ago. I don't see how this is any different from what it is now. This actually looks smaller. And does this actually propose to completely replace the practice facility that's only 12 years old?

Better to spend this money on file and actually bring back the swimming program. Fikes upgrade, whole an improvement at time, was still well behind competing schools and their new fancy rec facilities

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: last rebuild did a lot... this doesnt seem to change much

Mar 21, 2015, 2:58 PM

Little johns last upgrade was not major it was a joke and should have not been done after the roof issue was discovered. 1/3rd of the last reno went into fixing the roof.

Clemson Basketball facilities rank near the bottom in the conference.

Re: last rebuild did a lot... this doesnt seem to change much

Mar 21, 2015, 11:22 PM

The entire exterior was completely changed, the entrances were completely renovated and expanded, the floor wad replaced, the court entrance ramp was redone, the seats were replaced, pro style floor hoops replaced gaudy hanging hoops, the scoreboard was replaced, and an entire practice and training facility was added.

Yrs, the roof was the major workload but Littlejohn didn't look anything like it's old self afterwards. We're not talking about competing with the YUM center here. It's honestly not that bad.
