Clemson's 2013 recruiting class

Jul 21, 2017, 12:14 AM

I've been perusing past Clemson classes tonight and look at some of the names that came in 2013 together:

Mac Alexander
Dorian O'Daniel
Tyrone Crowder
Shaq Lawson
Ben Boulware
Jayron Kearse
Mike Williams
Scott Pagano
Wayne Gallman
Cordrea Tankersly
among others

I think it's safe to say our coaches know how to recruit a class full of championship type guys! That was a pretty good haul

Also notice how our WR's come in home state pairs sometimes per class? Fun fact:

McCloud FL Cain FL
Powell NC Overton NC
Higgins TN Rodgers TN
Bryant SC Peake SC

Ray Ray was a big part in getting Cain and I know that Overton and Powell were good friends before they committed.

Brad Brownell: more losses than any other coach in school history.

Cain committed before Ray ray

I pointed out the other day that Dabo & co didn't need one single #1 class to beat Bama who had 4-5 #1 classes on top of eachother. Our staff gets the guys they need and then they develop them. Yes I know we have a lot of 4&5* star guys in that list but they were not ranked as high as Bama's guys collectively. I think our staff is second to none.

Yes.

I was thinking of that as wrote that. Our vetting process is pretty thorough. Using social media as a tool to guage a kid's character is pretty smart. To not persue a kid after red flags are raised even though he's a top notch athlete is just plain wisdom.

I think it is more than just character. This staff also recruits for the right attitude towards the game. It takes dedication and hard work to truly become great at any craft. Guys like Hopkins, Alexander, and Watson were known as not only stars but students of the game. Not only did it turn them into great players but leaders. When you get enough motivated individuals together it changes the character of your team. Not only is this team passionate about winning, but they put the work in everyday to get better.

Humphries also came in the same class as Peake and Bryant.

Yes who can forget about another one of our two star recruits currently on an NFL roster. This is why if I were a WR with a choice between any SEC school and Clemson the choice would be obvious. No I'm not being biased ok. Ok well maybe just a little but seriously our development is second to none.

I think you'll see 2014 class was exceptional as well

Jul 21, 2017, 8:02 AM

There's a lot of NFL talent in those classes. Leave it to the coaches to grade the players and not the recruiting agencies. There's a reason Dabo only offered 1 QB in the 2018 class and he is not the #1 dual threat QB in the nation. Other coaches around the country see what the coaches have done with the talent they get. It's one of the biggest reason ole Oscar Meyer offers any recruit that Clemson offers. Go Tigers.
