Almost doesn't make sense for us to redshirt Frosh anymore

if they are borderline to play because of how we now recruit and Dabo's philosophy with 4th year Juniors going into their 5th year. Did you know we only have two 5th year players on scholarship (Guillermo and Teasdall)? Teasdall was a walk-on and Jay took a year off. The rest of the guys that came in with Jay and redshirted aren't with the program. Dabo's philosophy has been if you aren't going to be a starter or major contributor as a 5th year senior, you won't be around. I personally don't have a problem with him doing this. Just know that we've got a lot of 4th year Juniors on this year's team that likely won't be around next year.

For a guy like TJ Chase, it makes sense to redshirt him because he's only 160 lbs, got to school late and is a long way from playing. For a guy like X. Kelly, if he's ready to go in late Oct, I say pull his redshirt and play him on special teams or in blow out games to get him some experience.
