Many years ago, my roommate, now a surgeon in North

Carolina and I went out with Dwight to the Corporation. Back then, there might be a hundred to a hundred and fifty people waiting outside in a long line to get inside. Well, the three of us get up to about number 75 before Dwight gets hauled off by some knockout......he never even got inside....

Thanks for posting this article. Prayers for DC for what he's going through. I know firsthand of the evils of this disease as my wife's uncle had ALS and passed away in '05. In his latter stages, he told me the worst part was that there was nothing wrong with his mind, he just couldn't control his body and get it to do anything.

It's good that you can still occasionally find a story in a sports publication that doesn't have some type of political agenda or bias. I had to quit reading CBS because it was all Kapernick, all the time. ESPN is often a mixture of politicized bias or promoting the conference they seem to feel is the only one that exists. Thanks for posting. Maybe one day sports journalism is about reporting (like this article) instead of promoting one's own agenda. I'm not optimistic though.

You are correct. It was very refreshing to just read a well thought out story about guys that kept their bond over the years and still look out for each other. I never knew about the Huey Lewis connection.

What an inspirational yet heartbreaking story. Dwight Clark's life is a success story. I saw most of
his games at Clemson and was in Maryland when he caught a 64 yard touchdown pass to help the Tigers beat Maryland and win the ACC. I was able to meet Dwight years later when he worked in the 49'rs front office. The 49'rs practiced on the J.L. Mann football field prior to taking on the Panthers at Clemson (As you may recall, the Panthers played their first season's home games at Clemson. I was the AD at the time and met Dwight for the first time. He was gracious enough to have my picture taken with him. He was a first class gentleman and an outstanding player. I certainly teared up as I read the account of his reunion with his former teammates. May God bless and comfort him in this difficult time.
