Tampa is not prepared for this event.

Jan 8, 2017, 11:43 PM

Not enough bars, not enough places to eat, places running out of beer, locking doors early. It's insane here. Very poorly planned. Stadium better be much much better tomorrow! Tiger fans out number Tide fans 15 to 1!!

Agree. We were all talking today how although we have had a great time, Tampa has done an awful job with the event

I noticed downtown here was much more congested and harder to navigate than Phoenix. Bars were pretty crowded in Scottsdale too, and Phoenix is much larger to be fair. But the downtown experience last year was much better.

We were told an hour wait. The bar was like 20'x20'. Really?

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

My wife and I went...had to wait about 30 minutes to get in

And another 30 to sit down. Food was good and had a good time.

They maybe be open but there's not enough, esp in range of eachother. Ones that are open are jammed, which is expected. Went to one place that had locked their doors cause they ran out of beer. It's not an ideal city for this sort of event. I can't speak for the super bowl. This one is not good. But we are still having fun cause it's the Natty!!!

Ybor City has been fun. Everything else congested. A lot of it has to do with the way the event was set up based out and around the convention center which is on the water. This creates a bottle neck affect. Event is not spread out.

The fan fest was a complete waste of time. Also not enough restaurants and bars around convention center and arena

Re: Tampa Should be great

Great college town. Hosted two Super Bowls. The playoff director lived there awhile and was the director for both Super Bowls.

Ironically, I used to teach middle school with his wife back in the 90s.

Atlanta next year will be great. New Orleans will be perfection.

A couple of questions...

Jan 9, 2017, 12:14 AM

1. How is it "ironic" that you used to work with the dude's wife?

2. Have you already hoarded all the tickets for Atlanta...and should I go ahead and sell my house? Or just my car?

Thx

seems odd to me

Jan 9, 2017, 12:23 AM

he was exec director of the super bowl in Tampa. His wife and I taught together at the time and we lived down the street from each other in Tampa (Carrollwood). Now, I'm in Tampa 17 years later and he is the director of the college football playoff and I am ticket broker selling tickets.

Seems ironic to me.

He and his wife are both Wake grads. He used to be asst. commissioner of the ACC FWIW.

clarity

Jan 9, 2017, 12:29 AM

Michael has never gotten me one ticket for any of the three games.

The irony is we are back in Tampa where we both used to live but I am no longer a teacher but a ticket broker and he leads an event that is very big for my business. His wife and I were friends. I did not really know him at all.

You're far too nice to these punks who are giving you grief. You don't have to answer to them.

This lady named Amy is making several grown men look stupid.

Well then I don't feel bad about going out tonight. I'll be at the game and fanfest tomorrow around noon.
