Tigers stop Nesbitt, get three touchdowns from Ellington in win over Jackets

Andre Ellington rushed for a career-high 166 yards and scored three touchdowns and the Clemson defense held Georgia Tech quarterback Josh Nesbitt to just two yards on 15 carries as the Tigers defeated the Jackets 27-13 on Saturday. Full Story »

"He’ll have to get those yards elsewhere.”

Dabo on the defense stopping Nesbitt from getting the 44 yards needed to break Woody Dantzler's ACC rushing record.

Awesome Quote!

Death Valley was what is was supposed to be today! Great Job Tigers!

too bad for Woody that this record will be broken. I wish there was some kind of way we could hear what Woody had to say about Clemson making sure it didn't happen in Death Valley this weekend.

Woody

It's a bummer that Nesbit is going to get Woody's rushing record. I just watched the 2001 season highlights and that guy was unbelievable. A few weeks after 9/11 the Tigers took on Georgia Tech in Atlanta and I had the good fortune to get really nice tickets from a family friend... in the Tech Alumni section. Dantzler proceeded to put on the greatest individual effort I've ever personally seen in a sporting event. In addition to punching in the game-winning overtime draw, which literally everyone in the stadium knew was coming, he banged in a 38-yard scramble with no time on the clock to end the first half. While Nesbit will get that record, he'll never be the player Woody was. Bummer that they couldn't figure out a job for him in the NFL. Though Rich Rodriguez was gone by the 2001 season, I firmly believe that Woody Dantzler is a big reason why he's been so successful as a coach.

Also, apologies for misspelling Nesbitt. Not intentional.

Dantzler vs. Nesbitt. No comparison.

I'm glad Dantzler's record didn't fall in Death Valley. Dantzler played in the era of an 11-game season. Nesbitt is playing in the era of a 12-game (plus ACCCG). I'd take Dantzler any day.

In his senior year, Dantzler averaged 4.9 YPC with a 60.5% completion rate.
So far this year, Nesbitt is averaging 4.1 YPC with a 39.2% completion rate.

In his senior year Dantzler threw for 2360 yards and 17 TDs, and ran for 1004 yards and 10 TDs. This year, Nesbitt is on track to produce about half that number of total yards and TDs.

Dantzler was a great college QB, but at 5'10",he was just too short to be an NFL QB (though he did play RB & DB a bit in the NFL.)
