Women’s tennis swept 4-0 by Furman. Fall to 6-11

Mar 17, 2021, 8:00 PM

Clemson women’s tennis is now 6-11 overall and 0-7 in the ACC.

I understand both the men’s and women’s tennis programs have brand new coaches but neither program is cutting it right now considering the investment put into the immaculate new indoor facility.

Tough time to be a tiger tennis fan. (As it has been for most of the past 10 years)

In case anyone cares, Furman is ranked #33 and has beaten Wake, Virginia Tech, Alabama and South Carolina this year.

Clemson should not be losing to Furman,a team they have dominated over the years and had a 44-3 record against before today's match

Yes they are having a good year***

sadly the women's program is a long long ways from the days when it made back to back Final 4 appearances and as for the men's program what is taking so long for that Top 5 recruiting class that Robbie Weiss had about 2 or 3 years, what is taking it so long to produce on the courts. Both programs have really had some hard times within the last 5 seasons, winning matches and making the NCAA tournament.Even though the women's team has had better luck than the men's team at making the NCAA's,they still haven't much in the Wins column.Hopefully it get turned around because it would be ashamed to see a nice new outdoor and indoor facility go to waste, just saying.

Looks like a case of better on paper than on the court

Of course one of the key pieces of the recruiting class, Nini Dica, didn’t actually show up on the roster in the spring for some reason.

The last few matches, Giusca has been out, which sucks for him because he is already into the second half of his junior year and should be beyond the “development” stage now.

This has been a big issue with the men’s team in recent years. The players just don’t improve. They remain the same during their time. The last player to really get a lot better while at Clemson was Hunter Harrington who went from playing #6 as a freshman to a nationally ranked #1 player by senior year. We need some of these freshmen to make those types of strides.

Maybe Azuma can do it
