They finished 31-2.

Give them some credit. They didn't crumble under pressure like other teams did in the tournament. They had a #1 seed for a reason.

They don't need women's teams anymore. They could just have

the men play their tennis match, then say they currently feel like a woman, toss on some lipstick and go play the girls match.

Some of the ones they are cutting like squash, sailing aren’t ncaa sports kinda like equestrian.

Not that that makes it ok but it’s not like they are cutting their title contending programs.

Here is a list by Gender/Sport

I've seen the wall of National Champions there on campus. It's impressive to say the least.

I heard a story from 3-4 years back, about a meeting at Stanford, that at the beginning of the school year all the head coaches have a group meeting with AD to go over odds and ends (outlook, budgets, goals, compliance, etc). The AD asked all the coaches that had not won a National championship while coaching at the Stanford to stand up. There was only 4-5 coaches that stood up. The AD then said "we don't have time for anything less than national championships around here. Best to figure it out soon. You can be seated now".

One of the guys I know was one of the few standing that day. Despite the fact he had a very nice salary, access to anything his athletes needed, huge budget and travel, was provided a house and vehicle, he decided to move back to the east coast about a year later.

Men’s tennis program has been down for the past decade or so. They haven’t challenged for a title in the early 2000s and have been hovering as a fringe top 10-15 type of team. They can’t seem to get back to the elite level in men’s tennis for some reason

Stanford is one of the few schools that compete regularly for the "Capital One CuP' Basically a scoring/ranking overall "trophy" for all college sports but ranks towards specific sports. Clemson did well back in '18 but it is mostly just a handful of the same schools -most with BIG wide athletic budgets like Stanford, UCLA, 31-0, Virginia, North Carolina.

Also, while scoring for the less sports is much less, it is easier to accumulate various smaller titles which would count just as much as a "big sport". Thus winning Lacrosse or Softball counts like a Football Title. But because of the lack of less sports, Clemson would have a lower possible point since we don't have those. Just a school with bowing, hockey and sking would score as high as winning football.
