Would a 12 team playoff make games like UGA/CU less intense?

Let's face it. Whoever loses this game is probably toast in a four team CFP.. or at least smoking pretty good.
With a twelve team CFP.. losing kickoff games like this would be very survivable. Is that good?? We've quit watching regular season MBB because nothing really matters until the madness starts. If you're any good at all, you're in the dance.
Please don't say the expanded CFP will help lesser teams. It will not. It will just allow big name P5 teams to sustain a meaningful loss. So, with a twelve team field, most of the bridesmaid teams of the last 10 years like OU, TA&M, UGA, UF, ND, UT, PSU, etc will now get in the CFP. The Group of Five will at most get one entry who will get smeared in the first round. Like with most things in American athletics, the expansion is all about the money. That said, I still can't see the Pac 12 and Big 10 presidents agreeing to a 17 game schedule... 17 games???
And why does CFB insist of mimicking college basketball, a sport which is now on life support??

There will still be plenty of the same fervor, fanfare, and excitement over a top-ten clash, irregardless of all this "fear". Please have some camomile tea or something to settle your stomach.

Neither UGA or Clemson is out of the playoff with an opening game loss. 11-1 Clemson has shown year after year they are still in the top 4. UGA is in a much more precarious position having to defeat Bama.
Yes, there would be less on the line in a 12 team format. However, I believe it also creates an opportunity for better OOC scheduling. Top 5 teams can schedule top matchups without the fear of losing 1-2 games and automatically being out.

I generally agree with the OP. However, I do like the twist of the top four getting a bye. That’s an extra week off while your next opponent is exposed to an extra game of wear and tear. I think that’s a big deal at the end of the season against top competition.
So, a game like CU vs UGA as a kickoff still has huge implications for two legitimate contenders because they are actually playing for the bye.

The implications on the recruiting trail alone make this a huge game. UGA and Clemson go head-to-head on the trail all the time, so the right to say to recruits "we beat their butts" is huge.

Yes, it makes the result less dire for the loser, but they would still get in if they run the table the rest of the season.
I would prefer an 8 team playoff, but let's face it, 12 teams will be good for us in the long run. FSU and Miami will not be down forever and this #### transfer portal will make it harder for us to be consistently in the top 4 like we have been recently.
The Georgia game could be a scrimmage and it would still be intense though. Frankly, both them and OSU have jumped South Carolina on my hate list, so beating them will be great regardless of the stakes.
