Clemson gave me a great education for unbelieable price - 47 years and counting in very productive career. To say I bleed orange would be an understatement. But if we ever have mostly paid players with no requirements about college enrollment, no minimum credits earned per year, and sports is all about money for coaches (already has been), and administrators (already to a lesser degree), and about a paycheck for players w/ some left overs going to minor sports' scholarships, I just don't know if I will have the same excitement about the game.
College football such a part of my life, losing it will be sad, but nothing lasts forever I suppose.
NFL is to blame, in large part, with their requirement of minimum 3 years beyond high school before they will allow a player to play in NFL. They have a farm system without paying for it. WOuld be nice to end it formally, and we can become Clemson-Atlanta_Falcons Farm Team Tigers!

Think the game moving to flag football (due to head injury research) would have more impact on viewership than the players being employees.
Viewership continues to climb since 2021 (NIL introduction).

NFL type fans who watch CFB will probably continue to watch unabated.
I'm primarily a CFB fan, who pays very little attention to the NFL. Since 1996 when I graduated from Clemson I've been 98% CFB and a 2% NFL watcher.
I haven't seen Clemson play in-person since 2019. I missed watching my first Clemson football game EVER in 2020. Last year I watched 1-game. The previous year I watched 3 games. So far this year I've watched 0 games.
I'm pretty much done unless we play for a NC. The rose is off the bloom. Paying CFB players has cheapened what made the sport special. "Rah, Rah school spirit"....has been replaced with "I deserve to get paid to play at your school".
I'd prefer to just watch HS football.

Yes, it will.
And, many fans love to tell you on their high-horse, why they love college ball over pro ball.
Well, the passion and hard playing, just for the love of the game naive thought many people seem to have had is being brought to light.
Many - "NOT ALL" college players, yes played very hard just for the love of the game. But, many more were playing as hard as they were pre-NIL - due to trying to have good video for NFL scouts. Trying to improve their draft position and the like.
Again, not all of them. The way it is now, if you are a kid who aren't likely to get an NFL opportunity anyway, you have less motivation to get better in terms of having to get ready for the next level.
My question is; when many of these players adopt the pampered athlete mindset so many people love to comment on with Pro athletes - will they leave? Will they stop supporting?

I believe that a lot of fans of schools in the ACC and former PAC12 will lose interest when their teams are playing mid week conference games against schools like BYU, Utah, Texas Tech, Houston, Central Florida, and UConn.
Those same fans (of schools in the ACC and former PAC12) will lose even more interest when the revenue gap becomes so large with the SEC/Big Ten that they are no longer competitive with the schools in the SEC/Big Ten.

Conferences alignment ultimately implodes when you follow its current logic. There will be no conferences when this thing is over. It will run its course and teams will play each other based on the highest viewership potential.

ESPN would probably be fine with just carrying B1G/SEC as part of an NFL lite schedule. Remaining schools could organize under an NCAA like banner and seek TV revenue from other media outlets or start their own streaming service. I think Clemson could fit into either of the equations. I'd prefer an FCS type playoff structure without the portal, schools paying players and unlimited NIL deals.

Of course people will attend games and watch on tv. In reality, colleges have always been the feeder system for the NFL and nothing changes about that. The thing that you fail to consider is there are thousands of college football players but only 300 or so are signed to NFL contracts each year so your attempted point is moot.

Yes, because fans of college football know that the game itself is just part of it. The fans, the students, the bands and cheerleaders, traditions, the rivalries, the tailgates, even when Gameday comes to your cit-ay.
While the NFL can lay claim to some of those as well, but for the most part the NFL is the game. And that's it.
Those that have tried to change college football for the "better" have no real understanding of the event. Fans will turn out for their school. Win or lose. Failing programs nation wide still sell out. One simply has to look at Columbia on a Saturday and Charlotte on a Sunday and the difference is clear.

care about the University. People in this country just roll over more and more often it seems if taking a stand inconveniences them in any way.
