I've heard his named mentioned in a lot of them. (Neb, WVU etc...) The way current coaching searches go, you really won't hear about the move until it's almost finalized... and especially if a guy is happy where he is (as Dave seems to be).
At this point in time I'm not sure Nebraska is a step up from Wake. That would honestly be a lateral move at best for him. Clawson has honestly kept Wake more relevant than any coach I can remember being there. Nebraska needs a good FCS coach that wants to make the jump to the big time for it to be a enticing job imo. They may be a historical blue blood but their star has lost its luster over the years of mediocrity.
One of the largest and finest fanbases in the Country. Rich with tradition. About to make over 100 million a year in TV revenue as ACC tries to figure out survival. They're having a tough time and have their challenges but to compare them as a program to Wake is ridiculous.
Wake is a heartbeat away from a group of five school in terms of fan support. I looked at that stadium today and it seemed nearly half the fans were Clemson. THAT WOULD NEBER HAPPEN AT NEBRASKA! Playing in front of 40,000 fans vs 90,000. Nebraska fans travel well too. If they ever come to Clemson, expect to see a South Carolina, A&M or Georgia size fan support....and that's traveling over a thousand miles. In the 80s when they came to Williams Bryce, nearly half the fans in the stadium were Nebraska fans. You have to be on a waiting list for years to get season tickets. Huge fan following. Plus Big Ten money. Meanwhile I see maybe 3000 tops Wake fans when they come to Clemson. It's a much better job. And do you really think Wake would have 68 wins if they played in the Big Ten?
