Where was Andrew Mukuba?

Oct 25, 2021, 11:59 AM

I saw he played only 12 snaps and I felt like Nolan Turner was "picked on" several times, including at least 1 score we gave up. Anyone know if he was dinged up or what happened?

You have to credit the Pitt QB on the Turner scoring play...

I thought Nolan Turner defended it pretty well. The Pitt QB just made a fantastic throw.

I think it was Phillips that got burned on the post rout on the score right before half that ws the only real bad play out of the safety's.

I though it was Barrett Carter...

Linebacker trying to cover a WR. Total mismatch. Credit to the Pitt OC for recognizing it and calling it. Maybe Carter though he had help deep. Missed assignment by someone.

You're right. He had one too but even on that play, I think Turner got sucked down into the play and missed the help for Carter. It still begs the ?, why only 12 snaps for Makuba? I thought he was a difference maker those first few games without Turner and frankly can cover more ground than Turner.

Nolan Turner isn't a great safety. He's just not fast enough to excel against elite receivers. But that score wasn't his fault. It was well-defended, but you just can't do anything to stop elite throws in today's game.

Grab the receivers like everybody does ours, but we are not getting that call this year and our receivers don't look like they are fighting for the ball at all.

Jogging through a route and then flopping around after the pass is broken up is not going to win the hearts of many officials who are deciding whether or not to throw a flag.

Maybe our WRs (a few in particular) should try a different tactic.

Really, the first time he has looked like a Freshman all year.
