What would you do with 11mil dollars per year?

To me that amount of money is unfathomable. I mean it truly is. And then to think of my actual net worth of assets/investments/ect after making 11mil/year. It's amazing to really try and contemplate that thought....

Not bragging, but it wouldn’t change my life much. I retired and got bored and started a new business, so probably expand the business. Probably give more money to charity than I already do, and help out a couple of my relatives who have had a really hard time. Would definitely hire a full-time, live-in maid to do all of our laundry and bedsheets…

I'm assuming that $11 mil is unfathomable for a HC?
Auburn just got finished paying off Gus. They're still paying Harsin a ridiculous amount. Both for NOT BEING THEIR hc! And, BTW, they're paying Freeze too. His buyout is easier on the program as it is spread out $4.9 mil over time. But then, they'll have two on the ex-HC payroll and a new one.
$11 mil is peanuts.

Are Creative with deductions from real estate, heavy equipment or other purchase you can wright off. So would them in turn invest right away 5 of the 6 Million, the. Live off the rest as well as do my giving off that. 5 years of that and you have a 25 million plus what ever you earn off it as a base or as John Goodman taught us F you money. That’s your base. Then if I’m still employed maybe relax the investing slighty for a higher quality of life or whatever I feel like doing. After 10 years if I don’t like what I’m doing anymore I’m out.

When you are in a position like Dabo’s you really don’t have to pay for much. When he built his house I’m sure people came forward saying they would do this and that for free so they could say they installed the cabinets, etc. in Dabo’s house.

You just answered a question for me. It’s off topic I know but one day I was at Strossner’s bakery in Greenville. I saw a lady that looked very much like Kathleen Swinney there picking up a birthday cake and a few other things. I asked the guy at the register if that was her and he had no idea who she was and didn’t really seem to know much about Dabo either! I left right after her and saw her driving out in a big Toyota SUV and I thought why would somebody with that much money be driving a Toyota because know I wouldn’t be. Now I know for sure that was her. She’s a tiny little thing.

Tax bracket is 41.39% in SC at 11 million a year. That’s $6.189 take home a year. To get into a lower bracket it can’t be investments per se. It would have to be charitable donations or legit business expenditures. Even donations would only lower your taxable income.
The way real wealth is built is to invest a large majority into businesses. Many coaches and players own multiple franchise restaurants or invest venture capital for residual income.
You can’t just creatively write off investments. Only a small percentage are qualifying. I’ve fought the fed for many years trying to create more write offs and have failed for the most part. I’m not making 7 figures a year but I have paid more than 35% almost every year sans one year I had health issues and paid a ridiculous amount of money out of pocket. They looked at and verified every single receipt on the state and federal level. The tax man is hard to beat. Unless you’re a billion dollar Corp bringing thousands of jobs to a state.

Dabo is deeply invested in real estate. For example, he’s an investor in at least two restaurants of which I am aware, plus he is a major investor in the shepherd hotel in downtown Clemson. He and his wife also donate significant funds to the all in foundation and all the great work that the foundation does, including breast cancer research and the Clemson life program. I think he does a lot of good with the money that he has made from the Clemson program.

That’s not the question you should be asking. What you should be asking, if you are so concerned with another person’s money, is what do I need to do to earn $11M per year. If it means you grind your way up from walk on to unpaid grad asst to asst to out of the business in another line of work to back as an asst who travels nonstop to recruit and eventually gets a position coach job and then are given an interim tag after your boss is fired which almost always never results in a full time HC job but you were constantly working the whole time to have your own ideas about how you would capitalize on that opportunity if it ever came and even after getting the full time job you used part of your salary to hire/pay assistants and you all found success together and you were rewarded in pay commiserate with what your industry pays the most successful people at a time when compensation in your industry was exploding, then you too could be an overpaid, overnight success.

Thank you Calhoun for a great comment. The coaching profession is among the most unappreciated and unstable positions out there. Coaches make what they make because they have survived and advanced to a place where their value is rewarded. The athletic department at a major university is a huge business, with hundreds of employees who contribute to the local economy and a successful football coach is the number one reason for that budget. Fans of all Tiger teams and all athletic department families can be thankful that we have a coach who earns $11 million a year.

I’m sure most of you wouldn’t mind, but $4,900,000 is probably going to pay federal and state income taxes. So that would leave him with a paltry $6,100,000

Assuming I could spend it on Clemson football..... Here's my 4 step plan:
1) Go out and hire the best D coordinator on the market.
2) Go out and hire a new safeties coach.
3) Go out and hire a new WR coach.
4) Go out and hire a new Special Teams coach.
There.

I would make good note of the fact that 8 million plus 3 million equals 11 million, but not 12 million. If you were 19 million dollars in debt, and you could only pay it off in increments of 3 million, 6 million, 7 million, or 8 million, it would probably behoove you to attempt to pay 8 million first, that way you would cut the deficit to 11 million, which would give you the option to pay the rest off with another 8 million and then a 3 million.
Paying 7 million would be poor strategy because that would still leave you with 12 million, making it so that you'd need 2 payments of at least 6 million to pay off the debt. Even if you tried to pay 8 million but were only able to pay 6 million, you'd still be in basically the same situation being 13 million dollars in debt. You'd still need at least a 6 million dollar payment and a 7 million dollar payment to resolve the debt.
Either way, you'd need two payments of at least 6 million, with no option to cover the cost with a payment of 3 million. Meaning there's no reason not to go for the 8 million dollar payment in that situation, and in fact you should, because going for 7 million effectively gains you nothing over what you'd have if you only paid 6 million, but if you did manage to pay the 8 million you'd put yourself in a much more flexible situation. I think if I were making 11 million dollars a year, I'd want to understand this.
(I'm interested to see if anyone picks up on what I'm talking about.)
