Well, since the Baker Mayfield saga is now finally over in

Jul 6, 2022, 7:06 PM

Cleveland, here's a hypothetical.

Suppose he was still in Cleveland at the start of the season. No Watson due to suspension. Your starter goes down (whoever he will be). Does Mayfield bite the bullet and come off the bench, or does he pull an Antonio Brown, and refuse to go in the game?

It would have been a turribel situation for both parties, so I am glad for both their sakes that they found a patsy....., er trading partner in the Panthers.

I’m reading comments from articles that are overwhelmingly agreeing that Cleveland is still making stupid decisions and the Panthers got a great deal out of the situation. I follow very little NFL stuff so I have no idea.

The consensus wasn’t slamming DW4, as a player only his current baggage. Also pointing that the Panthers only gave up a 5th round (I think) ‘24 draft pick in the deal.

Hopefully, Watson is in a much better position once he gets this sideshow behind him.

It HAS to be considered a great deal for the Panthers,

getting a former No.1 FIRST PICK in the draft for a late rounder. Now that his ego has been crushed, Mayfield may actually go to work and thrive in Carolina. I just hope we have seen the end of those ridiculous "Baker Mayfield at Home" commercials.

Now it will be Baker in his new home.

Wonder if the Browns already know DW4's fate. Why deal Mayfield now if that's still in limbo?

Baker Mayfield is a solid QB if he can stay healthy.

Panthers got a steal except that I don't know how NFL salaries work.

and I just read he's only costing the Panthers $5 million per year.

So yeah, they got a steal.

Plenty of upside and no real downside.
