Recent relevancy has nothing to do with it. Those are 2 traditional football powers in a huge market. Nancy State and UL aren't even in the same ballpark. It's all about da benjamins!

If you ask fans across the country to name 20 schools with huge fan bases and good teams in all sports, both The USC and UCLA would be on that list.

UCLA has part of the LA TV market. I suspect the BIG10 had to take them to get Southern Cal.

On the field and on the court UCLA is no better (recent or past) than UNC. The only advantage UCLA has is TV market.
