A couple of points…
1. Let Russia invade them. If we truly fear Russia on the global scene what would be better than having Putin sink billions into a lengthy occupation? Takes their eye off us.
2. With the history of high ranking US politician’s relatives having significant business interests in Ukraine, how can we be sure there’s no conflict of interest in Brandon’s decision making?

I agree that in practical terms there's not a lot we can really do to stop Russia from invading Ukraine since we don't have the troops or geography to stop them, but the problem is, once somebody starts getting militaristic they tend to keep doing it.
Russia's roughing up democratic nations trying to establish themselves all around it. And the world, overall, remains in a state of peril and threat thanks in significant part to Putin's continued hijinks. He's basically running what amounts to an authoritarian mafia state now. He's establishing a polar "silk road" north of Russia now, he's bilking billions from his own people, he's exporting arms under the table around the world (of course, so are a lot of Western nations, including often the US), and his ransomware hackers continue to wreak havoc around the world. Anybody who doesn't think REvil and DarkSide are paying tribute to Putin to not crush them like roaches is fooling themselves; their ransomware literally will not attack any computer that has a Confederation of Independent States (CIS) registry...those being the former Soviet Bloc counties. (Oh, and they won't attack Syrian computers either.)
And he continues to jail and murder journalists and political dissidents at home and abroad.
He isn't going to stop. And doing nothing only emboldens him to take more.
