Two Americas (well said)

Dec 2, 2021, 2:31 PM

The Democrats are right, there are two Americas. The America that works, and the America that doesn't. The America that contributes, and the America that doesn't.

It's not the haves and the have nots, it's the dos and the don'ts. Some people do their duty as Americans; obey the law, support themselves, contribute to society. Others don't. That's the divide in America.

It's not about income inequality, it's about civic irresponsibility. It's about a political party that preaches hatred, greed and victimization in order to win elective office. It's about a political party that loves power more than it loves its country. That's not invective, that is truth, and it's about time someone said it.

The politics of envy was on proud display Jan 26, 2021 when President Biden pledged the rest of his term to fighting "income inequality." He noted that some people make more than other people, that some people have higher incomes than others, and he says that's not just.

That is the rationale of thievery. The other guy has it, you want it, Biden will take it for you. Vote Democrat. That is the philosophy that produced Detroit. It is the electoral philosophy that is destroying America.

It conceals a fundamental deviation from American values and common sense because it ends up not benefiting the people who support it, but a betrayal.

The Democrats have not empowered their followers; they have enslaved them in a culture of dependence and entitlement, of victim-hood and anger instead of ability and hope.

The President's premise – that you reduce income inequality by debasing the successful – seeks to deny the successful the consequences of their choices and spare the unsuccessful the consequences of their choices. Because, by and large, income variations in society are a result of different choices leading to different consequences. Those who choose wisely and responsibly have a far greater likelihood of success, while those who choose foolishly and irresponsibly have a far greater likelihood of failure. Success and failure usually manifest themselves in personal and family income.

You choose to drop out of high school or to skip college – and you are apt to have a different outcome than someone who gets a diploma and pushes on with purposeful education and/or employment. You have your children out of wedlock and life is apt to take one course; you have them within a marriage and life is apt to take another course.

Most often in life our destination is determined by the course we take.

My doctor, for example, makes far more than I do. There is significant income inequality between us. Our lives have had an inequality of outcome, but, our lives also have had an inequality of effort. While my doctor went to college and then devoted his young adulthood to medical school and residency, I chose another avenue.

He made a choice, I made a choice, and our choices led us to different outcomes. His outcome pays a lot better than mine. Does that mean he cheated and Joe Biden needs to take away his wealth? No, it means we are both free men in a free society where free choices lead to different outcomes.

It is not inequality Joe Biden intends to take away, it is freedom. The freedom to succeed and the freedom to fail. There is no true option for success if there is no true option for failure. The pursuit of happiness means a whole lot less when you face the punitive hand of government if your pursuit brings you more happiness than the other guy. Even if the other guy sat on his #### and did nothing. Even if the other guy made a lifetime's worth of asinine and shortsighted decisions.

President Biden and the Democrats preach equality of outcome as a right, while completely ignoring inequality of effort. The simple Law of the Harvest – as ye sow, so shall ye reap – is sometimes applied as, "The harder you work, the more you get." Biden would turn that upside down. Those who achieve are to be punished as enemies of society and those who fail are to be rewarded as wards of society.

Entitlement will replace effort as the key to upward mobility in American society if President Barack Biden gets his way. He seeks a lowest common denominator society in which the government besieges the successful and productive to foster equality through mediocrity. He and his party speak of two Americas, and their grip on power is based on using the votes of one to sap the productivity of the other.

America is not divided by the differences in our outcomes, it is divided by the differences in our efforts. It is a false philosophy to say one man's success comes about unavoidably as the result of another man's victimization.

What Biden offered was not a solution, but a separatism. He fomented division and strife, pitted one set of Americans against another for his own political benefit. That's what socialists offer. Marxist class warfare wrapped up with a bow.

Two Americas, coming closer each day to proving the truth to Lincoln 's maxim that a house divided against itself cannot stand.

“Give me four years to teach the children and the seed I have sown will never be uprooted.”
V. Lenin

Re: Two Americas (well said)

Dec 2, 2021, 8:27 PM

Wow, great reply.

That is the big difference between libs and conservatives - principles.

I have a principle that I do not hate or wish ill on people of color. Thus, I am able to criticize the culture of, say, African Americans, and call them out for creating and not fixing many of their own problems. I can say this, but it does not mean I hate all blacks.

Folks like Catahoula® can't fathom saying anything "negative" about anyone of color out of fear of being called a racist. You see, Cat is missing a deeply grounded set of principles that guides him and would allow him the freedom to cite facts without fearing criticism.

I can talk about how black-on-white crime is a huge problem compared to the reverse and how blacks commit violent crime at 5x - 7x the rate of whites, and I know it's not because I am racist. Facts are inherently objective. Facts are facts. Stating facts is not stating an opinion.

Re: Two Americas (well said)

Dec 2, 2021, 9:39 PM

NC Tiger I absolutely can relate on the race issue. I’m so confident I’m not a racist that I just don’t care if anyone calls me one. That makes it easier to talk about issues without fear.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Oh boy...

Dec 3, 2021, 7:46 AM [ in reply to Re: Two Americas (well said) ]

First, you have no principles. You want America to fall into a totalitarian state to force your worldview on everyone.

Second, you are unequivocally the most racist person on P&R. It is seriously LOL worthy that you think you somehow have a license to criticize all African Americans because you think you aren't racist. You've engaged in repeated, "Oh, hey, look, black person committing a crime!" threads that have nothing to do with politics or religion. You argued that African Americans are only good at football because of slave breeding. You once posted a long winded rant that diversity was a bad thing.

How you can sit there with a straight face and claim you have some unbiased, objective few of African Americans with all the BS you've spouted about them is quite impressive.

Finally, you can say something negative about a person of color if you're judging him on his individuality and his character, not somehow falsely attributing race to any of the reasons for his actions. Which is what you do.

When you harp on the violent crime stat and only criticize it as a problem that rests on the shoulders of African Americans without examining all the root causes that got them to that point, you are echoing the racist bull #### that was perpetrated by the people years ago who wanted them to arrive here. And simply echoing the centuries old racism that they are somehow more violent, uncivilized, barbaric, etc. Unlike those people who set up this problem, you just aren't smart enough to realize what you're doing.

Re: Oh boy...

Dec 3, 2021, 10:47 AM

Wow, you are so sure you are so much better than us deplorables that you can't think straight.

The main reason I post what I do with respect to AA's is to show you what YUO and the democrats are causing. Videos are facts, right. You are big to support statements that are just facts - what can be more factual than real video? Why do you not like facts in the case of video?

I'll tell you why...because you are so hell bent on calling out everyone else on their faults (as you perceive them) that you can't see the material for what it is. You only think about who posted it and why, but not about the content itself.

I've said it 100x on this board. The gov't programs pushed by the democrats are the No. 1 cause keeping AAs in their state of crime and poverty. I guess you don't get it. And, this poverty is one of the root causes of the crime and violence seen in the videos. Another root cause is the rhetoric pushed by the left. The environment being set up by the leftists is a never-ending cycle - there's no way out.

Quit thinking about me when you see a video and think about why the situation in the video is happening!

This is BS and untrue: "You argued that African Americans are only good at football because of slave breeding"

Diversity. Yes the need for, requirement for diversity, as distorted by the left, is fake.

And, I've said this before and I'll say it again...let's compare log books on how many hours you and I have sat with black people working with them to help them out of the cycle. I think that will reveal the unbiased, objective truth about who thinks what.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Catahoula® you have a ufcking problem. Don't quote me like that when it's completely untrue. I'm going to report you to big brother for that chit. Take it back.

Feel free to copy/paste the quotes. I will stand by them, and in fact, it's another example of exactly what I am talking about above. I am citing facts, and you go berserk. Are you denying the majority of starting NFL players are black?

I'd like Cat to splain why the huge majority of starting players in the NFL are African American (aka black for your benefit)? Is is superior intellect? More athleticism? More practice? More mental support in youth sports? Better at training? Bigger lungs?

How can such a small percent of the population end up dominating the NFL?

What exactly 'splains it?

Read the post you cited. YOU are the one that mentioned slave breeding for God's sakes, you POS.

What is your theory on why so many NFL starters are black? Are you suggesting there is no reason - it's just a coincidence? How about the NBA - same question to ya?

You see when you have principles you can think about these things. You are so high on your horse that your brain cannot entertain the question.

There's actually a lot more than "3 Americas"...there's a whole bunch of subcultures, but you're absolutely correct.

This talk of binary, good-versus-evil, us-versus-them, blue-camp versus red-camp drives me freaking insane because stuff is never that simple.

The guys who talk that way are invariably the Fascists or the Socialists on the fringe who see everything in their stupid simplistic populist terms. Everything is very clear to AOC. Everything is very clear to Marjorie Taylor Greene.

They are also not particularly interested in democracy-based capitalism, which is about balance...and is what America was founded on. AOC wants the old Communist worker's paradise and thinks rich people are basically just piggie banks you can turn over and shake the change out of. Greene wants to set up a Fascist autocracy where she can whump the crap out of anybody she doesn't like because power gives her a stiffie and she is one of the Brownshirts she keeps historically misappropriating every other sentence.

In between there's a lot of folks just trying to make a living, and provide for themselves and their families in what is increasingly a sea of polarized crazy.

I want to run my business, take care of my family, go to church, and at 57 manage my investments as I stare at retirement in a few years. Im tired of learning the rules of the game, playing by them , but constantly looking over my shoulder thinking all the rules are about to change yet again. Our government is exhausting to the citizens. I basically want the government to keep us safe and then stay out of the way. If that makes me a nut then I’m a nut. Is this what most people want? I hope so. How do we get there ?

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: No chance.

Dec 2, 2021, 8:48 PM

Oh man, you triggered me there.

You see how it works when you get a real degree is you take a PhD qualifying exam. The qualifying exam is not exactly the same at all universities that offer PhDs in engineering, but it is close.

In my case I had to take Math and choose 3 other topics in undergraduate engineering. In each of those areas the scope of the exam was ANYTHING COVERED IN UNDERGRADUATE ENGINEERING in those topics. You got that? Any freaking topic in undergraduate engineering in four subjects - holy cow! And, at the time, I had to pass all four topics to pass the entire thing.

Turns out I passed two and failed two the first time - so I failed overall. Had to take all four again and passed all of them that time. Unfortunately for me I had to spend months and months preparing yet again. My weekends consisted of taking an engineering book and working the ENTIRE BOOK over the weekend.

Just after I passed, they changed it so you can pass individual exams and only retake the ones you failed. Argh!

So, yes I have a problem with "Dr." Jill Biden and everyone else who has ridiculously easy doctorate degrees, many of which have been made up by the left, recently, by the universities that will lead to the death of America, haha.

Related to the original post, you might be interested to link what it says about making choices and reaping rewards, etc. to what I am saying. I am pretty sure the time I invested in learning chit that you will never know has paid off pretty well for me in comparison to you. And the work ethic we (including my wife) instilled in the kids has served them well. Got one of them through MIT with a 4.0 in engineering (not women's and gender studies). The others, well, must have partied a bit more, had a 3.8 in engineering.

It's not about haves and have nots. It's about putting in the work and dealing with delayed gratification.
