I think right now the one thing that would make me happier than anything is Dabo making peace with using the transfer portal. Unless I am missing something I don't see what choice he has long term.Seriously if I am overlooking anything with regard to the portal by all means tell me . I could be wrong. Other than that I am good with letting things play out and leaving some decisions till the offseason. IMHO I think we are blessed that Shipley didn't tear his ACL.That alone made me feel better going forward.

Your wrong.
Why should Clemson have to resort to the transfer portal?
Maybe I am missing something but isn’t most of the players in the portal either disgruntled players who could not start where they were ?
Disgruntled players transferring because of discipline?
Players who have graduated and have a year of eligibility but were not starters where they were.
Don’t throw the Baby out with the Bath water!
Clemson has had incredible success built from recruiting and development, that’s what they should continue and not have a knee jerk reaction ! JMO of course and you have yours.

pretty sure 2nd and 3rd string OL-men from ANYWHERE could start at Clemson. Maybe Dabo will meet a few this Saturday.

Ironically here are his stats so far for Wisconsin: 69 rushes, 319 yards, 2 TD's, 4.62 ypc; 4 receptions, 47 yards, 11.75 ypr.
DJ and Shipley together have only rushed for 321 yards.

Not to mention the large amount of players that CLEMSON has lost to the portal the last 3-4 years.
Just running back alone we’ve lost Dixon. Mellusi. Bowman. And feaster.
We need to utilize it or get left behind because it’s NOT going away.

Add Trey Sermon (OU transfer) to that list...torched us in the Sugar Bowl. We cannot continue to donate player after player to the portal while refusing to replace them with a similarly experienced player. With immediate eligibility for transfers, it's roster suicide.

You have your head so far up your butt you don’t realize what’s going on. You are just beyond ignorant when it comes to the transfer portal.
LSU won the national championship with a ton of players through the transfer portal. They ended up with 14 draft picks. Almost all players from the portal.
Georgia had multiple players on both sides of the ball start against Clemson from the transfer portal. Including their QB.
When Ohio State kicked our butts last year the two best players on the field for them came from the transfer portal. Fields & Sermon.
None of those teams beat us without players from the transfer portal. We’re getting our butts kicked by players from the transfer portal! My God people like you need to wake up! You have dogmatic worship of Dabo and anything he says. You can’t see that so much of what Dabo says is ridiculous and there’s a reason the national media mocks him on a regular basis.
I love that Dabo is our head coach, but he really needs to learn to shut up sometimes!
Even David hood is starting to mention how stubborn Dabo is and that he does a lot of things that are head scratching and questionable especially when it comes to his staff.

I don’t think the transfer the portal is the way to go! Even if you find exceptions to the rule they are the exception. You also do not take into account that the Clemson program is built on player Character and is more than just on the field success. Family atmosphere and Paw Journey really do affect recruiting ! I will stick with Dabo! But I do not worship anyone other than Jesus! I am afraid that many people have made Football their God! To many people get way to much of their self worth from Football!

It is long overdue to begin using the portal. There are plenty of good teams that fill needs using the portal hell Alabama's leading receiver and tackler this year came from the portal. we could convince some good OL with experience to come to Clemson. Im not sure why Dabo has this thing where he only wants you if you are "All In" right out of high school

and I've been saying we need to strategically utilize the portal/transfers for a few years now. It's not what you build your program on, but it's what is happening in today's world..........Clemson alone has been funding the portal with a number of players............so why shouldn't we utilize it.???

While the transfer portal may not be "the" answer, and it wouldn't help at the moment (as in today), there's no question that our roster would be stronger if we had added a few players from the portal during the spring or summer. Every elite program has embraced it to some degree or another. Looking forward, do you honestly believe Clemson will be able to out-recruit Alabama, Ohio State, etc. to such a significant extent that we will be able to overcome the fact that they (and many others) will sign experienced contributors (possibly starters) from the portal on top of their HS classes while we sign none?

sometimes a school has an embarrassment of riches at a given position - in those scenarios some outstanding players are looking for playing time
if your team has the opposite problem at a given position…it can be a match made in heaven…other teams are looking for these matches and we should be also
these players come with college film and it’s and easier to predict performance vs a high school kid walking all over a bunch of high school kids - who also come in green mentally with education/sports balance
bonus - coaches get additional perspective on how other programs and coaches do things and go about their business - there is insight that can be gained
