Too many former players coaching??

How does Dabo know if Spiller, Grisham, Austin, etc, can really coach? Where have they proven that they can coach?
Very often there is an inverse relationship between playing ability and coaching ability.
Example.. almost never does a HOF MLB player make a good MLB mgr.
Saban has unquestionably proven it's "the system" that is rewarded and not family loyalty.

Dabo is a one in a million find. Interim coaches almost never go on to get hired and become successful. Dabo is the only one in all of college football since he was hired in 2008.
Do we really want to bet the program on the rare exception and not the rule?

His counter-point would be Luke Fickell at Cincy.
Luke had a ho-hum interim year as Interim between Vest and Liar. Obviously 31-0 was chasing Urban and Luke didn't have a chance but it looks like 31-0 might have missed a good coach but he did stick around so, who knows.

Spiller, Grisham, T.Elliott, B.Streeter , L. Hall, M.Conn, T.Bates . They all had a combined 0 years experience in FBS coaching positions.
Now that definitely doesn’t mean they cannot be successful, however when issues arise, it’s awful nice in any occupation to have some experience and wisdom to fall back on.
Having said that, Caldwell is very experienced and that doesn’t seem to be going wel either, so who the hell knows

Well Dabos “System” has been pretty rewarding so I’m guessing the former players turned coaches will be ok as long as they follow Dabos “system”

You've got to be kidding

Find the 2nd best run in Clemson history, then compare that run to where we've come under Swinney.
How close is the comparison?
Answer: not close at all! What we've done is not only unprecedented in Clemson history, but we've established one of strongest runs in the history of college football.
This nitpicking crap is toxic. It's truly scary how feeble some fans are.
Dabo has built one of the top two powerhouses of the college football playoff era, and we got fans basically saying,
"Uhh, maybe our problem is Dabo doesn't know what he's doing with his coaches".
Unreal.

I think your kind of going off the rails a little. I think people are just talking about football and the Clemson program due to the fact this is a Clemson website. I’m assuming your looking for the Politics/Religion board where talk about all things Clemson football won’t interrupt your day . There is also a Covid board that may distract you from Clemson Football related topics

Fans. People need to realize Bobby Bowden only won two titles. Dabo gets a free pass in my book, for as long as he wants it. If you would have told me in 1998 I would live to witness two more National Championships, I would have never believed you.

I do think it will be harder to replace coaches if necessary when they are so close to the program in personal ways.
