I was a student from 64-68 and thought I had some tough times, but I guess I was pretty clueless as to the challenges some of my classmates endured. I now appreciate Dr King and the impacts he had (and still has) on all of us in a much different perspective than I did then. He was truly a great man. ??

I was at Clemson during those same exact years ...... how clueless some of us were! Your words are right on target and am disappointed that the color of one's skin is now a bigger issue than it ever was ...... not what MLK had in mind. He was indeed a great man.

I am proud that I was there when the brilliant Harvey Gantt was enrolled peacefully...Clemson handled integration very well as these alumni testify below. Ron Alexander, B.S. 1966
Also, I was in a Chemistry lab in 1963 when JFK was assassinated. My lab partner was gleeful shocking to me. I asked him why? "My mom will be very glad that Republicans can take control." This comment, and watch GOP glee at the the next two murdered JFK and MLK, led me to being a moderate Democrat until this present moment. Jimmy Carter is my role model of what a Politician should be like.

Jimmy Carter may have been one of the finest men to serve as president of the US, but also one of the worst presidents that we have ever had (and I voted for him). Trump on the other hand could have been one of the best based on his legislation but maybe one of the worst human beings to ever serve as president. I was a moderate Democrat until Bill Clinton told me that I had not done my "fair share" after serving a three years of active duty (year in Viet Nam)in the Marines, another 17 years in the Marine Reserves (without pay) and making the first year I had ever really made any money a significant tax increase that was retroactive. That was the year I became a Conservative.

Jimmy Carter had a significant impact on the USA to this day. He converted millions of conservative southern blue dog democrats and union members to conservative republicans in just 4 years; a huge disappointment.

The left and democrats have totally destroyed the message of MLK and JFK. Take free stuff from your government and base life on skin color, ethnicity, or country of origin; along with socialism (the opposite of their message).

I was born in 1968 so certainly don’t recall any of this firsthand. However, hearing these fine men share their stories and how Clemson cared for them just did my heart good. I’m thankful that one generation at a time we are learning what it means to truly love one another. Everyone.
