Marijuana illegal on a Federal level. The Federal government has chosen not to go after states that have it legalized.

Purely political and completely ridiculous. The Feds treat cannabis the same as heroin and meth on Schedule 1. Really? I’ve never seen any deaths attributed to cannabis unlike the other 2 which are killing machines. The Feds even list cocaine as a lower level drug than cannabis. Makes total sense, right?

And don't forget that marijuana isn't man made like the drugs you mentioned are, marijuana can and will grow from the earth without any help from man, just like beans peas, tomatoes and other things we eat from a garden. Marijuana came from the earth ever since the earth became inhabitable for man to survive here, and it has been used as one of earths mild medicines throughout our history, and I know for a fact that it relieves stress, upset stomach, and mild pain from joints and muscles...

Cocaine is also grown from the earth in plants. Poisonous mushrooms are also grown from the earth. Everything grown from the earth is not good for you.

LMFAO 1) if u think that powder just pops out the ground like a flower your nutty buddy! It is mixed with gasoline, acid, and about 5 other nasty nasty chemicals. You should watch some national geographic.
2) magic mushrooms and most mushrooms in general are very good for your mental health if taken properly.
3) Mary Jane is actually grown out of the earth with no chemicals added what so ever. But hey so is opium lol so kids just don't do drugs, drugs are bad mmmmkay?

I suppose the liquid cannabis used for medical purposes just pops out of the ground in liquid form. Weed frown for commercial use just does not pop out of the ground. It is cultivated, just like tobacco is cultivated. Get over your all naturally growing stuff is pure as a new born. It AIN'T!

No dude, it’s not some natural herb that is a cure for all the things you mention. The weed now is genetically modified way beyond what nature brings.

I giggled at "mild pain from joints" in context to this thread. Definitely seems like a better alternative to opioids for pain management.

Well that's because the government sold cocaine for about two decades back in the day day. I'm so glad Nancy and Hubby started the war on drugs it's been totally worth it and gotten so much better since they started this "war" it's 100% made a huge impact on drug dealers and the cartels along with the American public. Money well spent. So glad we use that much money for the "war" instead of other things that could actually help people. Na lock em up!

Cocaine is still used medically, usually as a local anesthetic. It has high potential for abuse. Thus schedule II. Crack cocaine is schedule I.
Marijuana is moving to schedule III. Recommended by FDA in Jan and announced by president back in spring. Not sure why it hasn’t happened yet, but have a couple of guesses: saving it for September for election purposes, or trying to figure out what to do with recreational state laws, which will still conflict with federal law if it becomes schedule III.

Not only for pain, it's great for battling depression & anxiety along with headaches & stomach issues. You can also now get Mary J that doesn't have THC in it anymore which is the active chemical that gets you "high"

Ding Ding Ding we have a winner! How people haven't understood that by now is beyond me. If you still think refer madness is the truth I got a day u one silly goose! The medicinal properties/effects far out weighs the pros then the cons. If anyone still thinks pills, beer/liquor, or cigarettes are better for your body (physical & mental health) then maryjewanna u need to do some research and get out of 1930. Rant over.

Ehhh..."wrong" implies a moral connotation which I would say could be subjective based on who's morality guidelines we are following. I think saying it's "illegal" is more accurate. JMHO.

Using it is not the issue. Possessing something that is illegal and is a violation of the law is what he was arrested for doing. So, our student athletes are supposed to not be breaking the law. But since it is weed that some of you smoke, and think should be legal, it is OK.

Those are my exact feeling with wine, beer, whisky, or bourbon. That is a man made garbage that has cause and/or taken as many lives as anything man has made other than firearms. Now that shows how really screwed up MAN MADE laws are, they will make laws against something that can and do grow freely from the earth without man every dropping a seed on the ground, but they will allow man that applies for necessary license to make it, and the necessary tax permits to sell as much of that poison as they can make and sell. Plus;
all distilled drinkable alcohol products that are Man made has been proven to cause human deaths by consuming so much of it that it rots the human liver, it has been proven to cause human lives by consuming just enough to intoxicate to the point that they have no control over their drunken mind, and they drive their vehicles into other people killing and themselves. Plus;
humans that uses marijuana that our earth can supply without any help from humans, and it has been proven that it kills humans, but our government will make laws against human using it bc humans that has never used it tells stories to everybody how bad it is for us without any evidence to prove the lies they tell. Our Governments make laws against using one earths plants bc government have a hard time taxing it bc it grows right out of the earth without any help from man kind.
Now why do you think our government don't make laws that forbid us to grown tomatoes, beans, or any other garden vegetables, it bc the human body needs the vitamins, but marijuana only relaxes us and makes us feel good, and anything that will do that for humans our government feels they need to put a heavy tax on it so they get their cut from us feeling good. If you know anything about using marijuana, you know what I've said is the truth, and I don't intend to argue that point with anybody, especially the ones that are against it bc our governments have made laws against a free society from freely using what grows from the earth and don't need man kind to alter it for us to enjoy it...

I agree on all of those.
Another benefit of the legalization is regulation.
I see a lot of comments talking about the 'potency' or basically genetic engineering making da dope get u higher. In an established, legalized, and regulated market...not only are there quality controls in place (so you don't buy something laced with fentanyl or a batch covered in mold), but also from what I have observed there is very clear labeling like nutritional facts on food.
Not everybody wants to be cemented into the couch for 6 hours drooling. Clear documentation and state regulation makes for a safer user experience compared to scoring on the street.

The difference is UGA players keep getting arrested for things that actually should be illegal, like reckless driving. The only thing Caden did wrong was get caught.

Any cop can tell you that in domestic disturbances it’s nearly always alcohol and never weed. Alcohol should be illegal and not marijuana. But, we tried that already and it didn’t work so well.

Alcohol wasn't ever totally illegal. During prohibition, you could buy 95% ethanol at drug stores and make your own gin or vodka at home. The requirements for denaturing (with methanol, benzene, etc.) so that it makes you sick were instituted after prohibition.

Get with the times folks. This should have absolutely no bearing on this young man’s football or academic career.

I'm sure the only reason it's illegal is because budweiser is lining all the politicians pockets to keep it that way. grow the f up and legalize it. might get enough tax money to fix those crappy roads down there.

Yup, alcohol and tobacco are big business. Most people could easily grow all the weed they'd ever need in a spare closet or a basement. There's not much profit in that for the corporations that own our politicians.

Hate to see it, but I am sure Dabo will discipline him and Caden will hopefully learn from it then move on to have a great career as we hoped when he signed. good luck to him getting past this

Bottom line… It’s not about legal or illegal - It’s about following team (or NCAA rules).
The legalization discussion is a completely different topic.

Well said. And our coach will discipline the young man according to the team rules, not because he has to, but because Dabo uses the Love Shack as a way of building players up.
Caden is a young man and human. He should not be judged for smoking or having some dope. Probably a significant portion of TNet could have been in that situation back in their college days, too.

He was raised with a strong Christian family if I’m not mistaken, so he knows better. Hopefully he grows and matures from this and turns it around.

Sounds like a modern remake of an old country song. Try THAT in a small town. I'm sure many do.

A lot of small towns would be much improved if the residents smoked more weed and less meth, not to mention the fentanyl and other opioids that are taking such a toll on those communities. Weed is basically harmless in comparison.

Have any of you gone to New Mexico lately?
Jul 26, 2024, 5:28 PM
|
|
I spent some time there recently.... That state has literally gone to pot (many under mid 30's seemed to be unemployed and stoned all the time).... and adolescent use (age 12-17) is approaching 20% with emerging long-term effects in mental and (for smokers) respiratory health and short term effects to learning and memory.... And they are not buying it from the legal dispensaries (pot use way up, but not so with dispensary revenues).... The problem with any recreational intoxicant is its availability to minors and abuse at all ages.... Anyone at any time can overindulged and do something totally foolish that changes theirs or someone else's life (death) in an instant.... I'm not a teetotaler or the moral police, but this is a serous issue....

Imagine that, a Clemson Tiger arrested for drug use. At least he wasn't speeding.
