Clemson coaches ask Texas QB to give them more time

With plans to announce a commitment on May 5th, Lucas Coley was looking to decide where he would be playing college football. After discussing that decision with his family, Coley has now decided to push that commitment back and weigh all of his options. And after recently talking with the Clemson staff, one of those options could soon come in the form of a Clemson offer.

Good Luck with your choice; do not come to Clemson unless you are willing to wait your chance

I think Dabo gives everyone a chance to compete from their first year. You don't have to "wait your chance".

Earn his chance. Not wait. Big difference

Let's be real - we're in the upper echelon of college football and the kids nowadays are as competitive as ever.

Almost NOBODY is going to be content being a backup and I can't blame them.

I mean seriously, who would tell their kids that they should be OKAY accepting a career in college as a backup/depth player if they have pro aspirations or want to play in games? I wouldn't.

And I imagine most 3-4 year players don't come in with that mindset either and THANKFULLY it works for Clemson thanks to the culture that MAKES talented student-athletes want to stick around.

I support any student-athlete that wants to compete at Clemson. Should the journey change for them along the way and they transfer or retire, so be it - thank you for your commitment and wish you well wherever you go in life.

face it, players today are savvy. QB's know there can only be one "The Man". We are getting kids that know this but aren't afraid to compete. This makes everyone better. I guarantee this guy knows everything about everybody in the QB room. So if we get him , he knows what the competition is and will know he will get his shot. Most realize a red-shirt year is almost a given.

I love the coaching staff, but how the #### do you ask a guy to push his commitment when you haven't offered yet!? SMH! That's the weirdest thing I've heard from this staff in a while... It's like, "Hey I know Jody has asked you to marry him, but I'm real close to asking you as well, soooo..." {face palm}

Why the #### is #### a bad word! You boys ain't right T-net...

IF he is willing to wait we probably don’t want him!
