late February 2020 and the most recent Omicron strain in May 2022. The original strain kicked my buttocks for 10 days before it relented (high fever, aches/pains all over etc...) and took over a month for my energy levels to feel right. It was probably the worst at home illness I've ever had - felt like the flu on steroids.

The Omicron variant I just had in May was a wimp that lasted all of about 3 days. Tylenol essentially knocked it out with no residual affects 7 days after testing positive. I've had worse sinus infections and regular colds than the Omicron variant.

So while these variants of Omicron may be more transmissible, I suspect they are also less potent - certainly less potent than the original strain.

I tested positive for COVID on Monday, and this is an absolute joke. Not to make light of those that have gotten very ill from this, but it's nothing like what I was conditioned by the media to expect.

This is why it's important to read past the headline.

"I don't think that most people should have to change their daily activities, but I do think people need to be aware of their risk of contracting Covid-19 if they don't take additional precautions," CNN Medical Analyst Dr. Leana Wen explains.

"For those who find masks uncomfortable, I'd encourage mask-wearing in the highest-risk settings — for example, mask while in a crowded security line at the airport and during boarding and deplaning," she said.

Is that what passes for hysteria anymore?
