the stale apples in the vending machine on the old tv series Taxi.
Tony: "There's no way to get anything but stale apples out of this vending machine."
Alex: "What makes you say that?"
Tony: "Well, there's stale apples in there now. If we leave them there, they will just get more stale. And, if we start to buy them now, the machine vendor will think we LIKE stale apples, and just put MORE stale ones in there!"
And, us being led down those kinds of paths by idiots, is how politicians get elected.
Stale apple, anyone?

greatest invention SINCE sliced bread.
Without sliced bread, my treasured peanut butter and jelly sammiches would require a lot more work every day, and I would probably have lost some fingers along the way slicing bread loaves by now.
Speaking of machines, awhile back I purchased (brand new), a heavy, cast iron and stainless steel French Fry Cutter. It will take even the largest raw potato, and with one stroke of the long handle, you have a handful of ready to cook shoestring french fries, which when cooked taste remarkably like the Fiske fair fries. Just need a drop or two of vinegar and a shaker full of salt.

I'll take the counter top oven and slow cooker over that any day of the week.

LOL 76er, I just got the same thing. When you’ve got a French fry cutter every potato looks like FFs. ? Also got a mandolin waffle fry cutter.

Shrimp...you can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it, shrimp kabobs, shrimp creole, gumbo, pan fried, deep fry, stir fry, pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich, that's, that's about it.

I don’t think this is really significant. If it wasn’t “invented” we are eating more full crust sandwiches, which are better imo.

Um, slicing the bread doesn’t remove the crust. That requires a doting overprotective mother…or nanny.

I’m behind the times but we just got an air fryer and that thing has been awesome. Hate we waited so long to get one.
