The first super conference was the SIAA

which had 27 members in 1920 Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi St., UNC, NC State, Maryland, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Washington & Lee, Sewanee, Vanderbilt, LSU, Mercer, Mississippi, Southwestern Presbyterian, Texas, Tennessee, Tulane, Vanderbilt, Cumberland, University of Nashville, Florida, South Carolina.
The conference split in 1922 to form the Southern Conference because logistics was too difficult. Eventually the SIAA dissolved and there were several conferences that were formed out of the SIAA; Southern, Southwestern, Southeastern and the ACC.
Will history repeat itself?

I read that first season SCAR claimed the 1920 pre-season national championship, and then when Bama won, SCAR fans chanted "SIAA, SIAA, SIAA!"
