Remember how the Conference added another year of probation over and above what the NCAA slapped on Clemson. Then there was the ACC Baseball Tournament that was played in Greenville (That was the 2nd highest attended College Baseball Tournament - only the College World Series in Omaha was higher attended). But the ACC deemed that it was an unfair advantage for Clemson so they moved it to Durham, NC. The ACC has never had any reservations for placing conference tournaments in the backyard of Tobacco Road schools.
Past actions are the best indicators of future behavior.
It has always felt like the North Carolina Conference with everyone else seemingly outside looking in on a number of fronts. I don't know how it will all shake out but eventually, we will be moving on at some point.
Just the fact that even back during the old days ehrn 2 schools from SC were in the ACC there was never ever even a though of having hoops tourney in the Palmetto state is very telling. ACC is all about the 4 NC schools and the heels in particular
