I've kept talking about the "perceived" best conference in basketball, the SEC. The only reason they get so many teams in the NCAA tournament is because they are "perceived" to be the best conference, therefore their conference losses don't negatively affect their ranking. They very seldom back it up in the tournament. Numbers don't lie.

I don't follow it as closely as I used to, but I keep reading about how bad the ACC has become
So I look at last years bracket and I see
Four ACC teams in the Sweet Sixteen
Three in the Elite Eight
One in the Final Four
and I think ... This is bad?

If Texas gets in, the SEC would have 14 of 16 teams in the tournament. That’s an absolute joke. The odds increase with that many in that one or two mediocre teams gets hot and makes a run. Then the talking heads will say see we told you so.

No team with a losing conference record should make the tournament period.
