And looks like they're holding a ton back too. These tickets are going to be plentiful by Saturday. Don't buy markup tickets... They'll be nearly giving them away by Saturday night.

Unfortunately believe so. Need to buy your tickets on the way to the game. This game is closer than a home game for most.

Strange. Surely SMU will bring a large crowd. You'd think that after years of being "invisible" as a football program, the chance to play for an ACC conference title would generate lots of fan/alumni support. Given it's Charlotte, we should have a large turnout as well.

We are a very small private school. Our undergrad enrollment is only 7,500. Our alumni are not concentrated (except in Dallas) First time in years we have had a sellout at our 35,000 seat stadium. I would be SHOCKED if 10,000 SMU fans showed

We have only about 185k alum to your 135k and something tells me your alums average bank account is a good bit bigger than ours for travel. Surely you can muster more than 10k fans?

I’d bet we bring ~30k

There's a reason for this. There's a chance we don't have an opponent.

After working to get into the ACC, don't think SMU would forfeit the championship game. They've got a good team and it will be an interesting game. Hope we can win and get into the playoffs again. Go Tigers!

There's no upside to them playing the game. They lose and Bama jumps them. They don't play and they are in.

There is definitely an upside. If they win the game they get a first round bye. If the committee drops them for losing that would be a disgrace. Honestly we need to move to a 16 team playoff with the top 4 teams in each power conference making the playoffs.

Should be NO automatic qualifiers IMO. Take the top teams. Don't rank anyone until the sixth or seventh game of the season. They put their favorites at the top before the start of the year before anyone even plays and they usually stay up in that area.

You act as if the ACC is a strong football conference and should have the same number of teams in the playoff as the others. I would say, right now, there are five SEC teams that would have won the ACC if they were over there this year. Can you say ANYONE in the ACC would win the SEC this year? I would think not.

How about to qualify a team has to play four top twenty-five ranked teams. If they have a weak schedule, go undefeated and only play a couple ranked teams they don't qualify. Again, rank no team until a good portion of the season has progressed. Only then rank the teams by what has been done way into the season. The whole thing is out of whack, anyway. We have players jumping from team to team and sit out bowl games. If they get paid then pay them 25 percent of whatever their salary is at the end of the season and the other 75 percent comes after they play in their bowl game or at their exit from the playoffs.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Terrible idea. No one after about the 7th ranked team

has a chance at winning the title. We don’t need to further water it down, it already has enough non-contenders.

I doubt they will either. They are discussing it. It would make for an interesting development. What I read said if they did others may follow suit.

Honestly, if they did forfeit, that would be perfect way to get 2 ACC teams into the playoffs. and push Alabama out :) It simply wont happen, they'll show up and play and should be a good game with each team having 50/50 chance of winning.

The article specifically quotes the coach saying they are not opting out and are going to compete for the championship as they should.

Don't think this game will be anywhere near a sellout. Doubt Clemson will sell all of its tickets.

Is it that bad over there? Is weather a factor that the stadium doesn't get packed? Just asking. Not poking a bear to get a reaction. Dang, it doesn't matter whom plays in the SECCG they have way more demand for tickets than can be supplied. Crazy prices, too.

Nah. People on here make it sound like it's being played in Buffalo or the frozen Tundra during a blizzard. It's in Charlotte NC for gosh sakes.

On the flip side MBS does have a roof they can close and it will be room temp at the SECCG.
