scared to death. He had wanted this opportunity so much for so long, and finally had it within his grasp. He didn't get it all right the first time out of the gate, but he learned his lessons well from his early mistakes, and pressed on. He had a singular vision of what he wanted Clemson football to be. He still does.
I am sure that many others, along with me, really raised their eyebrows when he shot down the reporter who posed the question about which other big name program he wanted to imitate at Clemson. When he replied with, "I want to build a program here that THEY want to imitate" (paraphrasing), my thought was, "Man, if only he could".
Well, the Little Engine that Could, DID. And, I have no doubt he still can. One down year now was NINE and still possibly TEN victories. Before he got here, pundits said 9 wins a year was our CEILING, and we should be more than satisfied with that number.
Stay Tuned. I think there is going to be some renewed energy around these parts next season. The spoiled have quickly gotten unspoiled, and are hungry again. The Tiger is an Apex Predator. (With apologies to Randy Orton.)
Dabo took what was called the Dandy Dozen, and he use that recruiting class to recruit 6 National Championship playoff teams, winning two National Championships, playing in 4 National Championships, and winning 6 straight ACC championships, and beating the coots 7 straight times. The only college FB HC that's done better was Nick Saban, and he is never pleased to see a Dabo Swinney Clemson team lined up on the other side of a FB field playing against his team!!!
