ESPN doesn't care about "over the air" broadcast anymore if they can cut out the middle man and still get paid the same or more than they would by cable/sat providers....

So overall, ESPN lost 7.6 MM subscribers from their ESPN+ business, but gained 6.75 MM subscribers via their streaming service.

Overall, instead of growing, ESPN is shrinking (albeit at a slow rate).

The good news is that stockholders punish the executive management of the companies in which they invest when it becomes evident that growth in such an under-performing company is not happening.

Hopefully there will be a several year run of Disney / ABC / ESPN under-performing the market, and a bunch of heads at the executive level will roll at this now-evil enterprise.
