Thanks for posting. Our AD needs to fully evaluate the tennis program.

He already has. That’s why we hired Robbie Weiss. He is in his third year. He was left in a difficult situation. Still climbing out but we are on the right track. Had the number two recruiting year two years ago and then didn’t have any scholarships to offer last year. One player tore both ACLs in consecutive years, so I believe that he is a third year freshman and he is contributing this year. One player accepted the scholarship last year and quit. Bad deal. Had the number 12 recruiting year for next year. USC is a very good team with depth of quality players. We are getting better but will take some time. This was our first loss. Our guys did not take advantage of opportunities yesterday. Could have been a very different score.

About Clemson men’s tennis for, no exaggeration, 15 years now. There was only the two year pocket of success in 2013-2014.
The #2 recruiting class was propped up by the weird way tennis recruiting does rankings. Labrador is now at Purdue. Azuma/ Plans and Whitaker, members of that class, are all good players but will likely take more losses than wins in ACC play at their respective positions in the lineup.
Weiss still has time of course but I would like to start seeing some signs of progress. If the team again misses the NCAA tournament this year, that’s not a good sign. And in theory we should be aiming to be a top 20 program again, while for the last several years we have not been top 50.

They are a top 10 team while we will likely not make the ncaa tournament again. They are doing it with a former Clemson player as their head coach as well
