Swinney on Justyn Ross, Will Taylor in slot

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney was asked on his call-in show about using Will Taylor more as a slot receiver and moving Justyn Ross back to the outside and said the following:

"We've got him (Taylor) in some packages where we get him in the game in different spots. He lined up at receiver in a few plays last week. We've got some package things for him and we'll continue work that out. We love where Justyn is and Justyn is doing really well for us and is productive. (Joseph) Ngata has been outstanding. He's really been a little bit of a problem (for defenses). He's drawn a big (pass interference call) the other night and should've got another one to be honest with you...He's been a good presence. But again, style of play has been an issue for us. It's hard to throw the ball into eight people. We've got to get the run game going and the rest will come. EJ (Williams) and Frank (Ladson Jr.) are two guys we have to get opportunities to. We just haven't had many opportunities to be incredibly productive. We've got a good group. People know that. But Justyn plays everywhere. He plays in and out. We've got some packages where he was to the field outside and packages where he was to the boundary. The second or third play of the game we had him to the field on a go-ball and just missed him. But definitely, Will is going to be a guy we continue to incorporate in different ways."

Everyone was outstanding. We went 3 and out 8 times in a row.

Not only 3 and out 8 times in a row but I’m pretty sure most of those were 3-8 to 3-12 … incredibly putrid!!!

I didn’t understand the decision to move Ross to the slot

nor do I agree with leaving him there now.

As usual, I’ll defer to the coaches. But the logical question is, how is that working out?
