I always hope the Tigers do well and I don't want to see this "transition " period drag out for a decade or so but a part of me is starting to enjoy the struggle .It was great watching Clemson climb the mountain from 75 to the National Championship game in Miami in 82 .The win over Ohio State in the 78 Gator Bowl seems just as big now as it did then.Teams like Alabama love and thrive on the pressure of always being King of the Mountain but imho Clemson thrives best on climbing the mountain, getting to the top and if they have to start over afterwards so be it.I always tell friends Alabama is Apollo Creed but Clemson is Rocky Balboa , the underdogs battling their way to the top. What Clemson is going through now is just the nature of college football, the up and downs .It's why I like college football more than the NFL ( but it's great to see so many Tigers spread out through the NFL , particularly Hunter Renfro with the Raiders and DeShawn is going to be ok I think and go on to be one of the best ever and now Trevor !).Clemson has climbed and had to reclimb the mountain a few times but they have always done it and they will again. Clemson from what I can see was devastated after John Heisman left for GA Tech in 1903 and it took years to recover from his leaving .But Clemson got stability and started to climb with Josh Cody and Jess Neely and then came Frank Howard who layed down long term bedrock ! Years later it was Danny Ford bringing Clemson back up the hill and taking the House that Frank built and using it to bring home the Title! And now Dabo who has won 2 National Championships. The journey is as fun as reaching the destination (the journey for me started at the home opener in 75 againt Tulane ) and the journey will continue today againt the Pack in Raleigh! One thing I think you can say about the Tigers against Tech is that no matter what happened they didn't quit and we'll see that same grit today. Go Tigers !
