Why did Bezos get into this? It's interesting how Musk and Bezos both got into it and we're already so set. I always thought only NASA could do it.

Bezos has comparatively done nothing.
SpaceX and Elon Musk have revolutionized the rocket industry beyond what anyone including NASA ever thought possible. They’ve turned these launches into a viable commercial industry.
Elon’s intent is to use the revenue generated from Starlink to fund Starship and missions to Mars.

Govt vs for profit. SpaceX has not only shamed Nasa but they shamed the rest of the world. More successful launches than the Globe combined in the last year. Countries with a billion people like China and India are barely able to do it. If this isn't a sign how great America is then not sure what you see.

Bezos is about to get going and might catch him. Kind of like how Tesla cars are fading. Bezos is going all out now as well.

Really? SpaceX has profited from massive government handouts. Fifty years ago NASA landed on the moon 6 times with less technology than today's cars. Still waiting for the next successful trip. IMHO

The fact that we are still waiting fifty years later for a return to the moon leads one to believe that MAYBE all isn't what it seems...

I hope this isn't one of those dumb flat earth nonsense conspiracy support posts. I would expect that in columbia.
We have been to the moon plenty times since. Bringing a human there and back requires a hell of a lot of $ and development. There is a reason we have not gone back in that there is no return investment. In the 60s/70s we had immense political pressure that moved the needle.

Not at all. It shows that in the big picture that the moon isn't that big of a deal once we have done it. Nothing groundbreaking happens on the moon. We can just have ships in orbit.
