So traditional Green Bay has a new "Winter White" helmet

For the CLemson traditionalists, I'm going to break rank and come out in favor of Clemson experimenting with some helmet options. The players, the recruits, the young fans and the media generally love it. It generates program buzz. This Green Bay helmet is new but clean. Food for thought Tigernet ... https://www.nfl.com/videos/gmfb-received-new-packers-alternate-white-helmet

No chrome. No messing with perfection. We have to hold the line. Those that donāt mess with tradition get as much love.

Iāll go ahead and say it.
Iāve always thought that the white road unis with a white helmet, orange paw decal and orange facemask would look good.

Coaches have a fine line to walk.

1. Old guys like tradition and don't like all the changes and alternate uniforms. (I'm an old guy.)
2. Players love all the alternate uniforms and "cool" changes and options.
Coaches can use them as just another small piece in the recruiting pitch. It's not so much that a kid is saying, "I'm going to the school with the coolest uniforms" as it is just another little way coaches can say, "Hey, you're gonna love it here. We're not just a bunch of old geezers, we understand how you think and can appreciate that."
Example: FSU traditionally wears gold pants and garnet jerseys at home. But, over the past 20 years or so, they have added garnet pants and white pants. Gives a lot more options for home and away games. The hoops team recently added teal uniforms (in honor of the Seminole tribe). The players love it. Traditionalists not so much. Well, I expect there will be one home game this year where the teal jerseys will be worn. (They were the non-contact jersey in our spring game.)
Example: FSU has also added a white helmet, a black jersey (which they wear with a black helmet that blends black and garnet in it). Kids love it.
When a recruit comes on campus for an official visit one of the things every college does is have a photo shoot. The kids get to pick whichever uniform they want to wear to get their photos taken. Far and away, the most popular uniform is the all whites. White pants, white jersey, white helmets. I don't see it. It certainly wouldn't be my choice. But, I'm not the one getting my picture taken.
I have no idea what is going on at Clemson. Is there a big push for alternate uniforms? If so, by who? Is Nike pushing it, so they can sell more jerseys to fans? Is the recruiting staff telling the coaches that "modernizing" the uniforms will help recruiting?
Are the people who are saying, "Dabo needs to quit being stubborn and get with the times and start using the portal" also saying, "But, don't change the uniforms. We don't need to be like everybody else. We're Clemson"? I have no idea.
I'll root for Clemson is they go on the road and wear purple pants, white jerseys and a chrome purple helmet with a white paw trimmed in orange. (Well, if they wear that combo in Tally this year, I won't root for them, but every other game I will.)

bretfsuĀ® Yes Bret. Answer #2 matters. The young bucks are always not enthralled with hearing changes and options are not allowed. Even with great coaches (incl. Dabo), programs can bog down (see Bear Bryant & Bama in Ford years and Paterno & Penn St even before Sandusky disaster.)
