SI writer has it more right than wrong. BOT/Clements/Neff need to be speaking with SEC, B1G and Notre Dame on contingency options.

Clemson needs to be speaking with the SEC. They are the ones

who are a whole year away from negotiating a new TV deal. Clemson would be a HUGE addition for them as an SEC member entering into those discussions.
Here's exactly how that conversation could go: "You guys gave the BIG ### amount of dollars. Here in the SEC, we have (assuming an SEC team or us wins it in 2022) the last EIGHT NATIONAL CHAMPIONS IN A ROW IN FOOTBALL as current (or probably still future, in our case, if we had been accepted) members in our conference. The last time one of the BIG's members won one was nine years ago. And beyond that, you have to go back ANOTHER nine years to find another BIG team that won one. So, whatever you gave them is the lowball STARTING number for what WE THE SEC are worth."
And they wouldn't be wrong in any of that. And, if somehow FSU came along as a pair with Clemson into the SEC, the SEC could point to their current / future members winning SIXTEEN OF THE LAST SEVENTEEN. That should be some serious bargaining power, right there. And, it will be.

The buyout makes it almost impossible for CU. ND could probably afford to get totally out of the ACC and go to the B10 if they wanted to, much more money than what the ACC could offer and they could use their TV contract to sweeten the deal and maybe have the B10 pay their buyout.... just saying

Coughing up the needed funds should not be problem if faced with the survival of our program. NC is already looking for their out.

Agree with this. Glad we didn't go for Big12 last decade but I would love to get in the SEC while we still have Dabo and some decent football leverage. Hope we don't sit on our hands but I just do not see us proactively being the first School to defect and challenge the GOR.
