Shotgun vs under center

First of all, I am happy we won the game. Our success has spoiled us as a fan base and we aren’t able to enjoy a winning anymore.

That being said…

The decision to take a delay of game backed up in our own goal line and then take a snap from shotgun from the inside the one yard line is very concerning.

Are we afraid 65 is going to get blown up at center?
Can 5 not hold onto a snap under center and fall forward?

The coaches know the players better than we do, but you have to question the judgement and wisdom of that call.

A fumble in the end zone was the only thing that could have lost the game at that point and snapping the ball 5 yards back dramatically increases the chances of something bad happening.

There is a reason every pro team and most every other team runs under center in this situation. These were the only 2 offensive plays all day that were not “vanilla”, and it was the one situation where we needed vanilla to preserve the defense’s hard fought win.
