Senator Ted Cruz Slams Title IX Guidance

"This is a great idea if Biden's intent is to kill both men's and women's college sports. Mandating so-called equal pay when not all sports generate equal revenue will force some colleges out of athletics altogether. Everyone wants to be paid like Michael Jordan, but that's not the way the world works. I predict this scheme will die on January 20th," Cruz told the outlet.

Who cares? The amount we're talking about is between $5M-10M swing. That's going to be a drop in the bucket compared to the NIL numbers coming in when this is all said and done.

Not if they ##### them for fair market value and that wouldn’t be just within inside college.

Maybe, but I think this is just the tip of the iceberg ...... one of many unintended consequences.

I am all for supporting as many college sports as possible. I understand $$ is a deal. In the day intramural sports were a big deal. All things do not deserve big $$ (ping pong) but should be supported if possible.
All sports should retain 100% of what they bring in and be subsidized as is possible. All sports at Clemson have prospered after DABO kicked football up a notch. I would go so far as to say even a degree is more recognized around the country and worth more due to football success.

Absolutely Tug… Because of the football success more students want to come to Clemson, thus making the admission requirements even higher. We went through the same thing back while Danny Ford was having success in the 80s.

don't agree with the title 9 decision, but Cruz is an opportunistic worm who will latch onto any hot topic for attention.. I wish he would get into used car sales.

You are shifting from the man not the message. Every politician and every man is disagreeable to all as to some things.
Ted would be a dream candidate here in SC as opposed to our two senators. I admit that is a low bar.

he thrives in controversy, but he, has no principles, nor morals. He is an Ivy League elitist who plays down his intelligence to the masses to appear like, "one of us", when he is just a sleazy, corrupt politician who is out for himself.

There was some Dem in Congress that said, "I like Ted Cruz more than most people, and I hate Ted Cruz.". I thought that was pretty funny and sums it up well.

as i mentioned above, I agree with Cruz's position, what I am trying to elaborate on is I doubt he cares that much, the man has never watched a sport in his life. He is probably one of, if not the smartest dude in the Senate, and unfortunately, he uses his vast intelligence to divide people and stir up controversy. He is not one of us, he is the swamp.

The result of this ruling will be that schools cut low-revenue generating sports to give more money to those that bring in the big bucks. What needs to happen is that universities get a certain amount, they add up the total revenue generated from ALL athletics, and devote a percentage of that revenue to each sport depending on what percentage of the revenue they produce. I get wanting to make sure female athletics aren’t just totally ignored — the ruling is trying to protect them — but it’s not going to end up playing that way
