I think it is a step in the right direction.

It doesn't sound like much, but maybe the plan is to increase the penalty if this isn't enough to stop it.
How about 1. First offense - as stated. 2. Second offense - player is suspended 1 quarter the next game. 3. Third offense - The HC is suspended for the next game.
The obvious question is who is going to decide if it is a fake injury? I would assume it would be the league office reviewing the game tape.

How about starting with suspending the guilty player and coach, plus fining the school $500K. You know, make it count since it's been a staple in the sec for years. LMAO Second offense is forfeiting the game.

How do you plan to determine that a player was faking injury or cramps?

Every time in an SEC game when the offense gets momentum, someone on the defense goes down with an “injury” that slows the momentum down. It’s like clockwork.

He is a dawg fan, they don't notice the on command signal from the sec teams sideline and the player just drops like a person getting 'healed' at one of those evangelical rallies. LOL

I never suggested teams don't do it. You've suggested games be forfeited, which is a pretty extreme punishment. I'm asking how you plan to demonstrate the difference between a player slowing down the game with fake cramping vs a player actually experiencing cramping. Short of a player looking to the sidline and getting a signal to drop, which would be pretty obvious, how are you going to make this determination? Even that would be difficult to enforce because there would be no "drop" signal. Someone assistant removing his cap would be "signal." How are you going to enforce any of this?

And $50k is the same fine for trashing refs publicly and it keeps nearly all them quiet post game. It's still $50k.
I give Sankey credit for being the only person to stop whining about it and do something. Now others will follow his lead

The penalties go up from there, and eventually result in coaches being suspended.

This will just make teams get more sophisticated at pulling it off so it doesn’t look as obvious. And then as stated, how will it be proven?

Makes more sense to make the player miss the rest of that possession. Defensive player goes down he is out until the other team either scores, punts or turns the ball over or they call a timeout.

And what is our league doing to combat? Let me guess, “we don’t have any players doing that”. Yeah….right.
Give SEC credit for at least addressing…..
