Roster management (recruiting classes + transfers) analysis

Posted this a couple of different places and wanted to share it here. Took a look at the size of our recruiting classes and transfer portal activity relative to our CFP competitors and our rival down the street. The numbers are pretty glaring.

So, we're bringing in ~20 players/year.

we've lost 20 to the portal since 2019 = 6-7 LESS players/year

we've taken ZERO transfers = 0 additions/year

we're not OVERSIGNING (once was an admirable thing, nowadays a must to survive at the level we'd like)


Where are the "BACKFILLS" coming from if we lose 6-7 per year and still only bring in 18-20 in each recruiting class????

answer = WALK-ON SCHOLLIES...................I'm all for the hunter renfrow stories, but that's got to be limited to 1-2 cases over a 3-4 year period.


This is not the ONLY reason we're in our position right now, but it's a big part.......Roster Management.
