Respect for Clemson

Jan 3, 2021, 1:19 PM

Just wanted to get back on here and tell you all how much respect I have for the Clemson program. As I said in my earlier post, that I believe was taken down for some reason, most of the hate
and shade thrown your way is just due to your success under Dabo. Enjoy it! I know how disappointed you are in the outcome of that game but realize how successful your program is. Dabo is easy to hate but I believe you all when you told me that despite what he says he is a man of character. For most OSU fans, they will never see that which I also understand given the shade he has thrown at OSU over the years. Truth is we need Clemson and OSU to be good to keep some balance in college football. The SEC continues to recruit at a high level of course and so the more we can be good to maintain balance the better.

OSU was well prepared, motivated and coached. They had a great game plan and Fields was a warrior. Well played.

RE: Hating Dabo - you wouldn't hate him if he was leading your team to the playoff every year, just like we wouldn't hate Day. Like the SC fans used to say about Spurrier: "I thought he was a SOB when he was at Florida, but he's our SOB now!"

Good luck against Bammer. Hopefully we'll get a shot a revenge again soon!

We got out played and out coached. I think we will be back next year we should be a better overall team. I think when we were the preseason number 1 this year that was a little overrated but hard to tell when you have as many injuries and some covid issues as we had during the season.

Re: Respect for Clemson-DABO DID NO DISRESPECT OH ST!!!!

Jan 3, 2021, 1:42 PM

Let’s be clear here!
The point is Dabo never disrespected OH ST. He said they played half a season and shouldn’t be in the playoff. Think about it like this. In the NFL, they play a 16 game regular season schedule. The reward given to the top team in each conference is an extra bye week. They play all year to earn the extra bye. What if you gave one team 9 bye weeks, so they only play 8 games? and match that team up against a team in the playoffs that played a full 16 game regular season schedule. Do you think the team with 9 bye weeks would have an advantage in the NFL playoffs. The Jets would probably win the Super Bowl this year if you gave them 9 bye weeks.
OH St played 5 regular season games. Clemson, Alabama, and ND played 10. The college playoff was not a level playing field but they allowed it. The NFL would never give one team 9 bye weeks and allow them to compete against teams that played a full season in the playoffs. It would be unheard of.
Hoping Bama can make this right. OH St should not be national champions this year because they played half a season and had the equivalent of 9 bye weeks in the NFL.
That is what Dabo was saying. No disrespect. Just simple facts.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think of it this way.If Dabo put OSU in his poll 4th

Jan 3, 2021, 1:49 PM

Then Coastal Carolina,Cinn,A&M,and a couple others would be bitching also.

Hats off to Ohio State. Your guys played exceptionally well and Fields was a phenomenal warrior. Clemson would have had to play very well to have won this game. I think your team played its best game of the season by far and the contrary was true for us. Dabo doesn't disrespect Ohio State. He made it clear before and after the game that not only was Ohio St capable of beating us, which happened, but is also capable of winning it all. As a child of the South, I will be pulling hard for Bama though. I think it's going to be a good game. Hope we get to play you again and with COVID hopefully in the rear view mirror, I will be there again. I enjoyed being in AZ for the last two match ups. Winning is definitely more fun!

Congrats again, but hope Bama takes it all on the 11th.

Congrats on the win. Seemed a lot of us fans and our coaches didn't take you seriously enough. I knew Ohio State could play but not to that degree. A very well balanced team with a great Oline. Good luck with bama.

What a nice post - thanks.

A lesson for some of us at Tigernet in how to stay humble, and not think that everyone who opines something about the Tigers that bothers you is anti-Clemson.

Good luck against Alabama; should be a great game.

The only correction I would make is Dabo is not,not easy to hate. He is a very good person with high morals and Christian values and always looks out for people that deserve it. I'm sure people like Hotsawce would hate him but consider the source.

Wouldn't it be a better display of Christian values to look out for those who don't deserve it?

Thanks Buckeye, I have a number of OSU friends that haven’t been near as nice about it.
As far as Dabo goes you don’t have to look far into google to see the work of the All In foundation, economic impact to the upstate and the University, and the graduation rate of his players as just a few examples to judge a man maybe not by his words but actions.

In addition one positive to me is I never thought in a million years tOSU would consider us a rival. A good healthy rivalry could be a good thing as I believe we will see each other again, most likely soon..

We do not need you to come on here and give respect to our team nor beloved coach! Your team had multiple weeks to DO NOTHING but prepare to beat Clemson, while we had to spend our time trying to beat #2, and then #3 Notre Dame while you were playing the womminz soccer team. It is basically cheatingand I will not congratulate you nor wish you luck like these "moral high ground, for gods sake don't make excuses" morons.

HAHA, what a ######. Despite all your ignorant rambling's nothing changed. You still got your ### whipped, OSU is still going to the Championship Game and you're left bitching and crying on a message board. Ohio State played on 12/19 and Clemson played on 12/19. Played same day, same days to prepare for matchup.

eat it.........

Lighten up, goodness! They whipped our tails and are extending their hand in sportsmanship. They BEAT us fair and square. New season in August.

Re: Respect for Clemson

Jan 4, 2021, 11:01 PM

It wasn't fair and square. Brighten up and understand what is fair and square. Playing less games while changing the Big 10 rules for conference championship qualification and Covid protocol in the last few weeks is immoral and unfair. The Big 10 came up with a bad plan they wouldn't and didn't stand by. It had no flexibility so they cheated. It may not have been Ohio State that did or agreed with this, but the lack of integrity and unfairness was still there. How much time did Ohio State spend preparing for Clemson while not playing games?

Ohio State won soundly that night, but not with fairness or integrity of sportsmanship from the conference or university. Extending the hand of sportsmanship is easy when one's team wins while not acknowledging the circumstances or behaving honorably. But regardless, thanks for extending the hand of sportsmanship.

Congrats to OSU. Ignore the responses from a few of the “haters”. Better team won that night and you deserved the win. I certainly don’t think our two teams are nearly as far apart as it appeared Friday night but you deserve credit for making us look bad. Dabo isn’t a bad guy at all he just doesn’t give everyone the PC answer the media wants. Any Clemson fan who follows recruiting knows that talent wise OSU is a legit top 1-4 team and he acknowledged that point. Good luck and I hope we get a shot to redeem ourselves next year.

Re: Respect for Clemson

Jan 3, 2021, 5:55 PM

You definitely outplayed us the other night. Congratulations on a great win. As for your fanbase hate of Dabo, you are completely off base on that one. Your fans are all about winning and that is great. However, there is more to Dabo than that. Coming from a woman, I attend Dabo's Ladies Clinic each summer. He puts on this daily clinic in his spare time. It costs about $150 to attend, but every cent of this goes to breast cancer research. They typically cut if off at either 2000 or 3000 attendees. In addition to this, there is some type of item auctioned off. Each time that I have gone, they have written a check for anywhere from $300,000- 500,000 going directly to the upstate of SC breast cancer fund. That has bought mobile mammography machines that go into poor areas to give mammograms at no charge and helped people diagnosed with breast cancer who have no resources. Just one of the many things Dabo does that is not publicized. He does more in his "spare time" than most coaches (yours included) will ever think about doing. Hate Clemson all you want, but hating Dabo is not acceptable.

Thanks for your post!

Jan 3, 2021, 6:20 PM

OSU played a great game and especially Fields who threw six TD passes. They were focused and were on a mission to win. Clemson? Not so much. Good luck against Bama!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

IMHO Ryan Day earned his 1-star General stripes

Jan 3, 2021, 6:25 PM

at a very early age. I admit I underestimated Day. Plus you have a really talented team considering the talent lost in 2019.

Best of luck vs. Bama. I believe Buckeyes have a real shot in 50-50 game. Opportunity to get 7.5-8 points looks like another chance to cash in.

Re: Respect for Clemson

Jan 4, 2021, 3:32 AM

He threw nothing at your program in a personal way, he gave his true reason of why he ranked OSU #11, and it made sense. Six games to everyone else in the playoffs playing 11 games, OSU was given a handout the very spit second that the rules were changed to let OSU in the college playoffs. They went in the playoffs without having to face the very same rigors of a full season, and that's plain, and simple favoritism BS. OSU gets to go into the championship playoffs as the freshest team ever in any college sport championship games. It was absolutely unfair to any one loss team that did play 11 games, and if it wasn't for your OcryO prejudice, you would see it that way also bc it's the simple truth of the facts!!!!

Re: Respect for Clemson

Jan 4, 2021, 8:43 AM

OSU didn't need to show everything they had on the field in order to win the B1G championship. They saved their best for the playoffs. Well done.
